I can't wait for the next debate. Sadly Tuesday is my school until 9:30 pm night. I gotta watch some bullshit avant-garde films that are too hard to find on my own, so I can't skip it. I'll have to just get drunk on my own and mutter "maverick" to myself a couple times in the theater.

We'll be with you in spirit...

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I'm not so sure you can say that Obama is almost certain to win at the moment ... at the moment, the margin of error of most polls still has John McCain winning and (as it has been pointed out many times) there are reasons to believe that Obama may suffer worse from people saying they will vote for him (in polls) and then voting for his opponent than McCain will.

Right now I would say that it is more likely that Obama would win if the vote was tomorow but, with a month left and only really having to get 1% to 2% of voters in a couple of battleground states to switch their vote, McCain could still win this election.

I have to wonder where that logic was when McCain was leading in dozens of polls. Are people scared of being judged by a random pollster? If someone asks you who you'd vote for over the phone and you respond with a candidate they don't like, will they track you down and kill you? I'm not entirely sure of how these polls are conducted, so I wouldn't know. As for the battleground states, McCain would have to win nearly all of them to beat Obama in electoral votes. I'm sure McCain "could" win the election, just like I said it was "almost" certain. It would be pretty difficult for him at this point.

I really don't know what the deep psychological reasoning that professionals would give you ...

Human beings are hardwired for social interaction, and it has been demonstrated that the same portion of your brain that responds to physical pain responds to social rejection. Most people will have faced social rejection a similar number of times as they have faced physical pain, and they would (probably) have produced defence mechanisms to protect them from being rejected. If an individual fears that there is a possibility of being rejected by the pollster if they said "I plan to vote for McCain" their defence mechanism may kick in and they might respond "I'm voting for Obama" or "I haven't decided yet".

It is called the Bradley effect - defined earlier in this thread. Race is a huge factor in this election, and McCain being on the ropes will pull out all stops - expect some very nasty 527s to come up from the McCain camp.

How about the other stuff the MSM will not cover? Stuff like random donations from overseas to Obama HQs around the US? How about when asked to reveal the sources of all small donors McCain said yes and Obama said no? To me he has something to hide. I would impress on you all to dive up from that tank for some clear air to breathe.

Obama Citizenship (even if born in kenya):

http://law.onecle.com/uscode/8/1401.html

(g) "a person born outside the geographical limits of the United
States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an
alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to
the birth of such person, was physically present in the United
States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods
totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were
after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided, That any
periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United
States, or periods of employment with the United States
Government or with an international organization as that term is
defined in section 288 of title 22 by such citizen parent, or any
periods during which such citizen parent is physically present
abroad as the dependent unmarried son or daughter and a member of
the household of a person (A) honorably serving with the Armed
Forces of the United States, or (B) employed by the United States
Government or an international organization as defined in section
288 of title 22, may be included in order to satisfy the
physical-presence requirement of this paragraph. This proviso
shall be applicable to persons born on or after December 24,
1952, to the same extent as if it had become effective in its
present form on that date"

The provided part basically says that military service counts as "being in the US" for this exception

I stopped watching the video as soon as the Marxist pictures of Barack Obama came up.  Do you really think blatant smear tactics like this will push people towards McCain, halogamer?  Its people like you who push me even further away from McCain.  Anyone who says the phrase "Barack Hussein Obama" (which is included in this video) should be completely ignored as a fear-mongering partisan.

Look man, the Constitution is going to be followed in this instance.  I don't matter if his name is Husseini Mohammed Al-Akbar he would still have to follow the rules.  Just watch the rest b/c this has been verified by both parties in various ways and Obama purposely tried to have Berg v. Obama dismissed.  Pretty rash if Obama has nothing to hide, no?

Please go check your facts before you come in here and spew your fear-mongering propaganda.

http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/2008/06/25/is-obama-a-us-citizen-or-not.htm

An anonymous email circulating for the past few weeks purports to prove that by virtue of the circumstances of his birth, Barack Obama isn't a natural-born citizen and is therefore ineligible to hold the office of president. When you strip away all the obfuscations, however, the simple fact remains that Obama was born on U.S. soil, which by virtue of the 14th Amendment makes him a natural-born citizen. Case closed.

I think Halogamer is a closet Obama supporter. If he was an actual McCain supporter, I would find his behavior most perplexing. Face it, McCain supporters, your ticket is going to lose. For your own sakes and reputations, I would advise all of you to accept defeat with dignity.

Uh...I hate crow the same as the next guy....and you should too.

Many things can happen in 920 hours and don't forget that there are polling machines and hanging chads and butterfly ballots to contend with, not to mention vote suppresion...so I'd urge you to take a stance of cautious optimism lest this turn into a black bird buffet for us all.

Look, the video is wrong about the req. Look at the link. Thats the actual LAW defining citizenship at birth (which is natural born). Let me give you the quote again:

a person born outside the geographical limits of the United
States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an
alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to
the birth of such person, was physically present in the United
States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods
totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were
after attaining the age of fourteen years:

So, if he is born to her at the age of 18, and she lived in the US for 10 years, like the video says, then he is natural born. Look at the link in my post, it goes over ALL the natural born laws.
