Actually, Non BC PS3 was always £300, The £425 (The BC one) got a price cut to £350 in Oct 07 ( thats when I got my PS3 ) so thats a price cut of £75, NOT £125! The 40GB (Now 80GB) Non BC had to be cheaper so it came in at £299.

Between February and now is more than 6 months.
On topic I think this will be great and it will show gamers the world over that MS is trying to keep prices fare no matter the region you live in. Well at least for most. (Sorry starcraft) I find it funny how Sony fans didn't call the PS3 price drops desperation last year.
