Forums - Nintendo - Star Wars : Force Unleashed Wii thread

OK so I picked up my copy on Teusday and...

It disapointed me. I'm kinda pissed.

1) I'm a big STAR WARS fan, so this was pretty big for me (In case the thread doesn't let yu knoe that /wink). So of course I dragged my wife out of bed when the store opened and I wore my Star Wars Tye Dye shirt that I've only worn to the movies and never any ither time, and all this big production over it, so I guess one could say I personally over hyped but hey, whatcha gonna do!

2) Side note, given it was morning and I was excited I wasn't really wearing pants and found out rather embarissingly that pants are needed for the Wii, the nunchuck cord can rack the balls, so I was doubly humiliated with that enlightenment.

*My wife said "it's the force working against you"
3) The game, first of all looked nothing (NOTHING!@) like the trailers. BOY did they LIE. I have the component hook-up to an HD-TV and at times I was wondering if they pulled models from the LEGO series game. SUCKED! No one is allowed to tell me this is a good looking rendition.

4) The controls suffered from the usual gimmicky-ness of the damn wii. I don't knoe why more games like Wii Sports, bowling and Golfing (though golfing can be tricky too), can be made. I dunno maybe more complex things just don't connect so smoothly. It seems that higher speed motion "exagerates" if you will the command and then screws up the responce for any con-current move, thus making comboing a pain in the royal ass. Workable yes, but still I want better.

5) A few side complaints on concept, or logic if you will. Things aren't nearly as interactive as we were led to bielive and perhaps not as much as the 360 PS3 versions. Some areas so far are not accessible, may may not be perios , but there is a door there. Meening the force works on some doors and not others, which is stupid. Force bolt is major weak, why. Often times saying screw it to the force and hacking away with the lightsaber works better. also Lightsaber doesn't work against enemys that can block it and the at-ats. Where I understand the fact that the Lightsaber is kind of an "I win" weapon and having it be "realistic" in a game may make it a cake walk in some aspects, it just makes no since for these things to be in existance without the properly implemented technology in place to support said function. (Like a Light shield or something). Or I believe (its been a while since I read the SW Encyclopedia) The material made on/from Kessel that can withstand a few light saber blows, which I don't think AT-ATs are made with.

6.) Lastly the WORST Part and one that would make me say an 8/10 is completely out of the qiestion is, the BOSS battles. OMG they are TRASH! Annoyed the piss out of me, and makes me wish I got it for the 360 instead. It turns out that the boss battles are "cinamatized" as I call it, where in order to progress through it, you must beat it in a played out sequence, rather than, just beating the fuck out of him/her/it or finding and exploiting weaknessis. No, no use of the Force and combonation of moves designed for the game needed here. No strategy involved. No reason to actually enjoy this aspect of the game. Just mash a bit until the boss gets half life or so than starts talking like a game announcer and then wait for the game to prompt you which control to shake, perform the sequence, and watch the boss be defeated. WOW. Also, note that failure to enact one of these "aerobics exercises" by shaking the wrong thing or slightly moving one of your arms down while WAITING for the next command to come, resets the whole damn thing, the boss' life goes back up (your isn't returned though). and you get to try the fucking thing all over. Someone deserves to have 20 chile peppers shoved up their ass for coming up with this BS!!!!!!!!

In conclusion, I still like the story and the force moves are interesting but their are about a dozen more complains that I'm too pissed to list 'em. MAJOR let down. 7.5 AT BEST. I AM PISSED.

HATED the Wii version. Thought it was complete dogshit and an obvious afterthought developed by a secondary team. I expect much better things for Star Wars Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels because it was built ground up for the Wii. Fortunately, the guy at Gamestop was cool about it and let me return it for the PS3 version which I'm enjoying MUCH more. IMO, Wii version deserves even lower scores than it's getting and the PS3/360 is underrated deserving at least an 8. A lot more fun than reviews indicate.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

^ I think I'm gonna see if Gamecrazy will let me do the same!
