Microsoft has admitted that every one of the 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in the past 19 months suffers from a design flaw that could cause the device to fail.

My advice.  Make your 360 rrod and make MS fix it before 3 years goes by.  Either that or wait and get in on the carpet bombing of lawsuits that are sure to follow. 

Not really news... MS haven't actually "admitted" there is a problem - that WOULD result in a massive class lawsuit. And we all know about the $1bn booked charge, there to fix consoles when they break...

The guy is guessing and it's extremely poor journalism.  Where's his source or proof.

well they have shipped 11.6m so there not lying, they have already made them so they have the design flaws aswell

Well this isn't really new. I was expecting something about the system catching fire or something lol that would have been newsworthy.

I was thinking 'oh crap, recall coming' if that had happened.

It is big news....because if an indepedant body can prove that the majority or all of the 360's have a design flaw that can make it break.  Every single person that owns a 360 is entitled to a replacement or their money back.

Obviously this is why MS is putting in the $1.1b fund for 3 year warranties etc.

If this becomes more clear to the general public, I can see noone else buying a 360 until MS release the new improved console without the flaw.  Unfortunately the Elite is the same as well.  And who actually knows how many more 360's that are being shipped now are still the old board version.  I would guess that they all are.

I can see this ending in tears with a huge recall.
