Forums - Sony - Why Sony's E3 Press Conference "Won"...

I don't think there will be online for Brawl. Just a hunch... they would have clarified it if there was. I think it won't be ready in time and they'll just cut it from the game if it's not implemented well.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Am I the only person who felt completely underwhelmed by E3. There were no real major announcements, apart from Wii fit, Wii zapper, PSP Slim & Lite, Killzone and then just some gameplay videos.

Whatever, MS won, because they made me realize I am going to look like a fool trying to sing karaoke while playing a fake guitar!

I just saved myself a lot of money.

There's however many people watched the show to define who won. I think when it came to pleasing Sony fans and wooing the FPS crowd Sony won. Nintendo can't compete with Sony on the former and simply doesn't have as much for the latter (MoH and MP3 basically). MS meanwhile failed to woo anyone except Halo fanatics. Although Nintendo did show a lot of hard core games, they only had 3 casual and over 10 hard core games at their show after all, they are competing for everyone now unlike Sony.

That brings up where I think, as evidenced WiiGirl76, Sony failed terribly, why should anyone who isn't only deciding whether to get a 360 or a PS3 buy their system? This was a trade event, Sony needed to show industry types that they have some idea about how to get back into the 100+ million casual market they used to dominate. Instead they gave little indication that they have any clue that market exists.

Overall I think Nintendo and Sony did about the same (school gradewise I gave Sony an 81, Nintendo an 87, and MS a 60). They both psyched up their respective fanboys, they both aggressively went after their target markets, and they both showed a bunch of stuff we knew about or expected. I give Nintendo an edge for 4 reasons, 1) they were more relevant to a trade show not a fanboy fest, 2) their speakers and presentation were better (no more Tretton please, listening to Chewie give the presenation would have been less painful), 3) their chosen business plan is working a lot better so unlike Sony they didn't need to change anything, and 4) the games they showed are going to blow Sony's games away in sales.

I suppose you know that you wouldn't have to do it in front of millions of people?

I agree, I think it is because of the new format. Also is the new PSP called Slim & lite? I would rather prefer PSP slim or PSP lite (although psp slim is more probable)

No E3 pretty sucked this year. I was saying the same thing on another forum. I mean there were almost no new announcements and all of the new announcements were things that have been rumored for months. I mean E3 has been pretty sad. E3 always seems to stink on odd numbered years though. So there is some hope for next year.

Now we play the waiting game of seeing whether winning E3 translates into a new beginning for the PS3.

It is rather odd Microsoft and Nintendo put very little effort into the event, I still wonder if Sony was the only one taking it seriously or if Nintendo and Microsoft didn't have anything worth talking about that wasn't already known.

I'm not impressed by anything Nintendo had to show nor was I impressed with anything MS had to show. Killzone is probably the best looking game I've ever seen though and Sony did put on a great spectacle, but let's not kid ourselves that we weren't expecting anything except the previously unanounced exclusive. I'm eating up the responses here: "Killzone 2?! OMG! I so totally didn't know they were making that for the PS3!!! The console race is nearing its end, the PS3 has won!"

Not to rain on anyone's parade or come across as a troll (though simply breathing alone seems to be enough to warrant that charge in my case) but isn't this thread largely the same as the pre-existing thread about the Sony conference? I can't say I have much room to talk as I've certainly made my share of redundant threads but just a thought.

P.S. Anyone dissapointed with the lack of attention given to upcomming PSP games?

Sony dropped their price by $100.  Yes, it was leaked, but that's an E3 announcement.  I'm not sure what you were expecting.  I enjoyed E3 because for the first time ever I was able to watch all of the conferences.

the 1up show was saying that Sony had the only playable demos after their conference, can anybody else confirm that the other two conferences had playable demos after?
