Man, I'm sorry, but that's a strange way to read it.
Killzone was as known as Wii Fit: if you had no idea it would look that good, nobody had any idea Fit would come with such a cool device attached. Same goes for timed exclusives, at least Haze... they were as rumored and hinted at as MK Wii was (nobody could know for sure it would come this soon, and online was only expected because of MK DS).
Not that this means Sony's wasn't an exciting conference - just that I think you're being unfair.
You may think it's silly, but since it's may favorite franchise of all time, I was as hyped about MK as you'll ever be about Killzone, MGS, or whatever. I was expecting Reggie to say Brawl had online, when he said MK... well. I'm also pretty much drooling on Galaxy's (or Brawl's) graphics, as much as you can be at Killzone's (or MGS's). Sony's presentation was indeed exciting, even for me, but I was having trouble finding a 30s sequence without a shot, a blast, a slice, etc... and that's way too much action for me!
Plus it's also a lot about expectations. If it wasn't for MK I'd personally be a lot less pleased. For Nintendo, though, all that mattered was presenting their next 20m seller, and that's all over the press already, so they're pleased too. Sony, I think, has every reason to be pleased too - they captured their audience, and did so very well. Since, the way I see it, no other audience will put down $500 for a console easily, that's a pretty sound strategy. Microsoft... I don't know. Their own fans don't seem very pleased.
Well, to each his own, I guess...
