Forums - Sony - Why Sony's E3 Press Conference "Won"...

Please don't take this the wrong way but the reason they "won" is because people really weren't expecting much and were just relieved that they actually have a decent Fall lineup that compares somewhat to the Microsoft and Nintendo offerings.  Before E3 it looked like Sony was going to it's slaughter this holdiay season where it was up against major franchises/big guns like Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and Halo 3 and all it had were unproven games.  It was likely a major relief when Unreal Tournament 3 was announced exclusive for the year.  I'm glad though because Sony was definitely due for some good news after the year they just had.

Sony won because Nintendo and Microsoft lost Probably you should start a topic "Why N and M$ didn't win" Fact is most people here agree Sony had the best conference of all.

Sony because of:

- PSP lite for $199,99 with 1 game (Daxter), 1 movie (Family Guy) and 1 GB Memory stick (or I misunderstand something?) bundled, new video features etc.
- Unreal
- Haze
- MGS
- GT5
- downloadable games
- Killzone 2 (to be honest I think this one is enough alone)

I think Sony won for the audience it was aimed at for sure.

if u call winnoing showing lots of FMV using blueray yes they did but actual screen gameplay shots in some were down right horrible. my opinion is another e3 where sony shows tonms of videos that looks good to "convince" people they are gonna get that "great" of gra[phics then finds out it isnt true

dick cheney loves me, he wants to take me hunting

Sony won because it was the only one that had surprises:

Killzone 2
Unreal and Haze timed exclusives
And Infamous a totally unknown game before.

The other two's surprises were known before (Wii Fitness and Mario Kart) or weren't big announcements.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

BAhahahhahahahahahahahhahaha Yahh people had no expectation with killzone, none what so ever.

"Sony was definitely due for some good news"

pure FUD, Sony killed it at GDC and had a great gamers day.

Even with ythe price cut leaked they had the best E3 of the big 3

+1 for Kber81

Time to Work !

Mario Kart is a bigger franchise than Unreal. Wii Fit is in all likelihood gonna sell more than all three of your games combined.

Oh and how in the blue hell were Unreal, Haze, and Killzone 2 announcements/videos surprises at all. I think every gaming forum on the planet predicted those.

Infamous was a new exclusive. Which was something that Sony definately needed. BTW what's the release date on Infamous? I thought so, Nintendo has devs working on unknown titles too, they atleast decided to hold back long enough until the game might come anywhere close to being released. Notice that the game was CG? Let that be your hint.

You have nothing any better than the rest of us stop acting like you have the holy grail.

The fact that killzone showed in game graphics and the game looks about 80% as good overall as they showed with the cgi is a great thing for the system. Along with the PSP new model, if the DS can do it so can the PSP. And their is no doubt that the killzone this time is in game, its lighting effects are far beyond anything else. But M$ should of showed what was coming next year, banjo, alan wake and whatever else they have coming next year, it would of been a tight race with Sony for #1 this E3.

Man, I'm sorry, but that's a strange way to read it.

Killzone was as known as Wii Fit: if you had no idea it would look that good, nobody had any idea Fit would come with such a cool device attached. Same goes for timed exclusives, at least Haze... they were as rumored and hinted at as MK Wii was (nobody could know for sure it would come this soon, and online was only expected because of MK DS).

Not that this means Sony's wasn't an exciting conference - just that I think you're being unfair.

You may think it's silly, but since it's may favorite franchise of all time, I was as hyped about MK as you'll ever be about Killzone, MGS, or whatever. I was expecting Reggie to say Brawl had online, when he said MK... well. I'm also pretty much drooling on Galaxy's (or Brawl's) graphics, as much as you can be at Killzone's (or MGS's). Sony's presentation was indeed exciting, even for me, but I was having trouble finding a 30s sequence without a shot, a blast, a slice, etc... and that's way too much action for me!

Plus it's also a lot about expectations. If it wasn't for MK I'd personally be a lot less pleased. For Nintendo, though, all that mattered was presenting their next 20m seller, and that's all over the press already, so they're pleased too. Sony, I think, has every reason to be pleased too - they captured their audience, and did so very well. Since, the way I see it, no other audience will put down $500 for a console easily, that's a pretty sound strategy. Microsoft... I don't know. Their own fans don't seem very pleased.

Well, to each his own, I guess...

Reality has a Nintendo bias.
