Forums - Microsoft - Which current generation console has the best controller?

The 360 for me. Obviously. Has a good feel to it, unlike the toy efforts of the other 2 consoles. The triggers alone make it better to me.

And despite the whining from so many large wristed Pc users, the millions of people enjoying FPS games on the console proves it does that well. The only thing that's really "wrong" with it is the D-pad isn't really a D-pad at all, but other than the few people who still use it exclusively for fighting games, it does its job.

The PS3 Sixaxis is just a joke of a controller. Bringing back what is effectively the PS2 controller is a better choice for the PS3, but the buttons just don't have the same

overall effectiveness as the 360. The Wii-mote, I don't even know where to begin describing what I don't like about that idiot proof Paul Daniels experience. I guess this

imaginary "innovation" that acually took place years ago is enough to offset the lack of buttons or the single analog stick, or the non unifed control experience

(a pet peeve I have with playing non RTS games on the PC).

The answer is the Wii for obvious reasons. Anyone that is answering any differently is either a fanboy or stuck in their ways of what gaming should be. I kind of understand being stuck in your ways though. I remember when i first saw a D-pad and wanted a joystick instead because that was what I was used to. I suppose people feel the same way about the Wii Remote.

Why even post this? It's obvious the Wii has the best controller, lol.
Out with the old, in with the new.

Old Brawl code..ask for my new one..

I ain't no fanboy and I disagree with it being the Wii's. For motion games, yes it is the Wii, by far, but the DS3 is still the over all champ for me, cause it works well for "ALL" gaming.

The Wave Bird, now, that is an awesome controller and I still use it on my Wii for non motion games.

Try playing a fighter or an arcade game with the 360's. Example; I've been playin' Double Dragon recently on the 360. To do an elbow or a spinnig kick [which are important] u need to hit 2 buttons at once. 30% of the time it fails, cause the buttons are just shit. Too high up, and way too hard. Also, the 360's D-pad is by far the worst one ever made! It's triggers are only good for shooters and the sticks aren't as smooth as the DS3. When M$ copied the DC controller they should have done a better job, cause it shits all over the 360's.

Oh, and don't compare the sixaxis to the DS3, cause they ain't the same!

Wiimote

Well out of all three I've only used the 360 controller and Wiimote and I don't really remember the PS3 one from the store I was in when I played a PS3. So I'll use what I know to comment.

The PS3 controller and 360 controller are fairly similar. Both are pretty good. Both have rumble. Though I don't really like the trigger buttons on the back and the shoulder buttons on the 360 controller. I really like the PS2 controller, and the PS3 controller is fairly similar to that for the most part, though I hear the R2 and L2 are a bit annoying. Other than that I think I prefer the layout of the Playstation controller. And also some form of motion sensing goes some way.

Finally there's the wiimote. I haven't had too many games to play with on the Wii, but I feel I wish they had implemented another analog stick somehow. But also it's easy to plug attatchments into the wiimote which add new ways to play. It also has full motion sensing which I guess gets rid of the need for a second stick. Also has a speaker built into it, which makes things a little more interesting in some games.

They're all pretty good in the end. I'm probably leaning towards PS3 and Wii though.

360 controller i sby far the best. Perfect shape, perfect size for primary target audience (15-35 year old male). Great look and feel as well. Only problem is it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries, and the D pad gets a D+... but luckily isn't used a whole lot.

You can buy Xbox 360 rechargeable batteries or a "Play and recharge kit" with little money...

Current best....... 360 pad, the right weight, very durable, comfortable and analog sticks in ideal positions

All time top 3 Gamepads

1. Sega saturn pad
2. Sega Megadrive/Genesis II 6 button pad
3. 360 controller

I honestly can't answer the question because I neither had Sixaxis, the DS3 nor the 360 controller in my hands. But I like the Wiimote + Nunchuck a lot more than any last gen controllers, because of the freedom to not hold your hands together and the versatility towards a lot of different game styles.

I doubt I'd like the other current gen consoles' controllers that much. Having an overload of buttons also doesn't help.
