Forums - Sony - PS3 not reading discs...

You get the one you send in back or an identical model. You will recieve a backwards compatible PS3 if you send a backwards compatible PS3 in whether or not its the one you sent in. I had my PS3 corrupted by a game (the game crashed and the PS3 wouldn't read discs anymore) and sent it in to Sony. It was back within a week good as new, I reinstalled the backup I made, no problem at all. They sent back a 60GB backwards compatible PS3 just like the one I sent in.

He's right. they will send you the same model you send them. My 60GB from Jan 07 crapped out in May 08 because I didn't clean the intake vents enough and Sony sent me a 60GB back. If nothing else works (and you still want a PS3) just call Sony and have them fix it for you. If you think you will ever want a PS3 in the future, I would recommend you keep the PS3 now because you may not be able to get a BC model in the future...

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Around the Network

ya disk read errors usually come from moving the console while its on disk wobbles hits reader lens and cant read any more with the 360 it tears up the disk to,

check your disks to see if they are damaged too if not just exchange it mines a launch console works perfect still.

Are assisitant pastor's wii did the same thing but it got knocked over while it was on lots of young kids ninty fixxed it at no charge. still I said dont even touch it while its on.
