Forums - Sales - JP 360 price drop is moving consoles

Well, yes. Price drops always move consoles for a week or two. This is not surprising in the least.

The question is, will sales crash and burn in three weeks like they usually do, or will they actually be able to sustain things for a nontrivial amount of time for once?

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Amazing I make 1 anti-Sony comment, and get jumped on, yet everyone gets upset when I argue the same comment being made in the MS forums, against MS. This isn't the Sony forum, BTW. Hypocrisy FTW!

Also, I'm not understanding the whole "consoles are dead in Japan" argument. In 2007, consoles were down 5% from 2002 which was the same, equal, year in Japan last generation, and this year is trending toward the same.

LOL grats on playing the victim.

you're nothing but a worthless troll and deep down inside you know it. just look at your yearly console sales predicitions you're incredibly low on everything but the 360 and you're wayyyyyyyyyyyy too high on that. all of your 2007 predictions were horribly wrong and some of your 2008 predictions are already wrong and its only september. you fail.

the 360 is twice as dead in japan as the ps3, who cares if it sells 20k after the pricecut, it means nothing in the long run.

How about you save us all the effort of reading your posts by never posting again? Stickball has made more contributions here than you ever have, that's for sure.

Other mods make their opinions known about their preference for Wii or PS3, I don't see you calling them out on that.  Just sad.

but ff13 is not being release in japan on the x360 anyway
momentum dies after IU which probably is just one week bump.

star ocean 4 again 1 week bump then baco to sub 5000 sales.
and a month later around 1000.

You totally missed the point. I don't live in Japan and even if MS's attempt fails this generation I'm still going to enjoy the Exclusive, the Timed exclusive and the ports that MS is purchasing for me!

I'll repeat it again!  "this generation is full of surprises"!!!!!

Nintendo is back on top, Sony is currently in last place and MS is making a run in Japan.. how f*&cked up is that??

Wow, look at all the venom and bitter tears.

MS has not moved a lot of 360s in JP, and they may never. But they have secured a fair amount of developer support, and not all of it because of money hats. And they still get new JP developed titles all the time.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Ah, and in the end, all that matters is games. Fortunately, I get a ton of games to keep me occupied, so I'm very content :)

At any rate though, it's an interesting race. Even a uneventful NPD seems to make people go crazy.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
