Forums - Sony - is Halo 4 coming out for PS3?

Well, it doesn't appear that Bungie is going to work on Halo 4 anyway. The rumor is that Halo 4 is being developed by Gearbox as a launch title for the next Microsoft console.

Wether bungie make games for the ps3 or not has nothing to do with halo going to the ps3 as the halo property is owned completely by Microsoft. Never going to happen, ever.

lol,

Well did your friend say Microsoft is bought by Sony?
If so then that is the only way Halo will be on the PS3.

On seriousness talk, Halo is an exclusive IP and bought/paid for IP for Microsoft. So sorry no Halo on the PS3. Plus Bungie doesn't have any plans releasing software on any console but the Xbox 360.

am... no.

Microsoft has been clear that they own the IP to Halo. So in order for that to happen they would have to ok it... Not impossible, but highly unlikely...

ok ok, BUT is it tru tht bungie and MS split up tho?

Yes they had an amicable split, but Bungie is no longer first party. It is possible for them to make a PS3 game, however they still have extremely strong ties to Microsoft. To my knowledge the only publisher Bungie has an agreement with currently is Microsoft making their games exclusive by default.

I would not be surprised if one of MS's conditions for letting Bungie go independent was a right of first refusal for any games that they develop.  That way, each from their own perspectives, everyone wins - Bungie because they are their own masters, and likely make more money off of successful games, and Microsoft because they still get great games support for their console while not having to manage a development studio.

The above is all my speculation, but I still think the chances of a PS3 Bungie are extremely small.  Then again, stranger things have happened so it might be best to adopt a "wait and see" approach.

Also, as others have said Microsoft purchased the rights to the Halo IP so the only way it could ever see the light of day on a playstation would be if MS stopped making xboxes, but wanted to continue to publish games.  I don't see that as ever happening, because if the xbox brand were to ever fail they would probably drop all game development.  They're not Sega, they have other, much more lucrative, sources of income.

And what are those great games? Halo? Halo 2? Halo 3? Halo 4? Halo X? Halo Legends? Halo Adventures? Halo Master Chief Evolved? i know that one Halo title gives Microsoft a lot of profit, and the series is 43 on the franchise sales list, but that's all Bungie has done since the first Halo, i got happy that Marathon 2 was ported to XBLA, but they need to work on other projects now that they are independent...

I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to say, I was saying that Microsoft was probably looking to maintain great support for their console in the form of games.

I'm fairly certain that a large part of Bungie's desire to become independent was the ability to work on other projects, and last I heard they were working on at least 3 distinct games, none of which involve Halo.

Ahh ok, i got it now

Anyways, i hope that Bungie starts doing that, because i liked the Marathon & Myth series back in the days, and it would be a shame that they waste all their creativity for getting safe money on only Halo titles...
