The Wii can do lots of zombies. They're just making sure the game runs smoothly with what they have.

Has Capcom actually confirmed that? I'm not doubting you necessarily, but a link would be helpful to back up that statement. Remember, no assumptions sir.

I do agree with you that the Wii should be able to do lots of zombies. Frankly, Dead Rising looks like straight ass(even in the new pics), so for it to look that bad, I expect at least as many zombies as the 360 version, if not more. If it can't handle nearly as many zombies in the final build, I question why Capcom would choose such a demanding game, one that truly did use that extra horsepower the 360 posseses, to make a Wii game out of.

On the Capcom boards, there was a comment about the 360 using a full core for all 800 zombies, and that since the PS3 was single core, a port wouldn't be as simple as flinging the code onto the system. Since the Wii also has a single core CPU (as people have noted from taking the cover off and seeing the motherboard), the same problem applies.

So no, they don't have as many zombies. They said outright there would be fewer. The 360 version had up to 800 in an area, so the Wii can do half that at best.

As for the graphics, it really looks as though they were trying to get all the zombies they could first, and then they are adding the shading and lighting, which those new pics are showing. If you want more zombies, don't buy this version. But don't assume the development process is going to follow the exact same publicity pattern they did with the first version, when the way the systems work isn't even allowing that.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
