Forums - Nintendo - It doesn't seem like much, but Dead Rising Wii is improving.

Frankly, I'm not too impressed with it right now but it's Capcom and I remember Resident Evil:Umbrella Chronicals didn't look so hot in early screenshots either but the final product come out looking good.

Not quite. The dates on those pics are from August 20 and 22, which means these are a couple weeks old, where the pics and video that set everyone off are a couple months old.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Still looks muddy, still textureless (lol, not a word), shadows are few and far between, and the ones that are there are circles. And the on screen number of Zombies has increased somewhat in some pics, but in others, it looks just as bad.

There are textures. They are just low detail for now. If it was textureless, we would have gouraud shading, which hasn't really been used for games like this since the N64 days. And that was to get around a puny texture buffer, which the Wii doesn't have, since it can use as much of its RAM as it needs for that.

And that's not up for debate. A texture is basically a picture file laid over polygons to create the illusion of a surface. The game has them, or else those floor tiles would need a hell of a lot of polygons to make them appear that way, and not even the 360 could spare that many.

Looked closer at the screens from gamekyo and the ones from July.. I honestly can't see any graphical improvements.

Lord, I don't think Capcom added any lighting effects, just take a look at this and this.  Looks like Capcom just brightened up some of the newer screens... or darkened the older ones =/

Might be, and if they did something that dumb, I will be ticked. But if they just took a scene to compare the builds with, that could be excused. Even if in that scene, they just upped the game's brightness, it's still something.

Actually, I don't think that's touched up. I put both on Paint Shop, and touched up the darker pic to look like the newer one, and I noticed some bloom effects on some of the textures, which is not even present at all in the older pic, and the texture detail is a bit higher. Plus the colors are sharper.

It could still be a touch up, but I'm still waiting.
