The word "banned" is, IMHO used incorrectly.

"Banned" would be fine if we werer talking about a permanent arrangement, but "temporary ban" is almost an oxymoron.

Agreed. It's just so common to use banned in forums as supposed to suspended.

Banned (permanent) users dissapear from all the forums anyway, so anyone you see who says banned next to them is just suspended.

temperarary bans should be called frozen.

Perm bans I agree should be called banned

but "he got banned" sounds so much better than "he got frozen"

I think a small picture icon should be used instead of words.
If its a temporary ban a picture of a fat woman eating a raw kipper and for a permenant ban a picture of a midget doing a handstand on top of a camel.

Because Ban hammer sounds much better than suspended hammer.

This is the reason why ban needs to stay. Thor, the Asgardian god of Thunder would never throw a suspension hammer, only the legendary ban hammer Mjolnir, and that's all his apprentice Onyxmeth throws also.

i think things are better resolve talking that banning.
post can be taken as a misinterpretation and many may be banned for silly things.
