Forums - Microsoft - Economic slump not hitting Xbox business, says Bach

Speaking to Reuters, Xbox boss Robbie Bach has claimed the general economic slow-down in the US is not affecting Microsoft’s entertainment business.

“We have not seen, on the consumer side of our business, a slowdown,” he said.

The exec, speaking at an American event, said the firm’s Xbox division had been doing well, noting that the games business moves on new release cycles and not economic ones.

Bach also said he expects Xbox to have a strong holiday shopping season.

You must admit they are always positive.

LOL. At least they do have a strong holiday coming up.

i dont think the bad economy has hit any of the entertainment business. looking at pass time activities such as holidays, cinema sales, video game and console sales as well as eating out, they have all profited from the economic situation. It seems people are spending their money on things that make them happy in stead of buying homes lol

We'll see if the theory holds true within the coming months for the other markets. According to financial reports, Spain, Britain and Germany are heading for a recession.
Correct me if i'm wrong but the Japanese market is also spongy as well. If HD consoles weather the impending economic slump i'll tip my hat to the games industry.

they are doing well

The World economy in general is kinda meh at the moment. Japan was in a 10 year recession and according to the latest analysis it's starting to work its way out of it. Seems like the gaming industry hasnt been affected though.

Economic slump is adversely affecting sales worldwide for everything. Hard economic times means people spend less money on luxury goods and save their pennies.

Video game sales would be doing a lot better if we were in better economic times.

When games like GOW2, Fable 2 and Halo Wars come out Xbox business will go better...

Of course they are positive....The Xbox360 sales are going well all these years
And with the X360 exclusive games coming in the next months they can be very positive...
Games are making the console good and boost sales
Microsoft will also announce 12 new exclusive games for the Xbox360 soon so the Xbox360 has still a lot of life...
