Forums - Sales - Disaster: Day of Crisis Sales Predictions

I'm one of those people that is personally excited for this title.  I know a lot of people were down by the recent screens and info and whatnot but I think it's sounding pretty good.  Unfortunately there is no confirmed release date for America this year so I probably won't be able to get it.  However the game is scheduled to release on Sep 25 in Japan and Oct 24 in Europe.  Now the game has appeared out of nowhere with apparently no marketing or hype but does have brand as it was announced 2 yrs ago.

My question is how do you think this will launch in its first week in Japan and Europe and then how much in both by the end of the year.  If you want to you can humor me with American first week sales but it's not necessary.

Really this is a though one considering I don't live in either of those areas to know if there is any marketing going on outside of what's on the internet or if there ever will be.  However this title releasing so close to when it's getting built up doesn't bode well for big first week sales.  So:

1st Week

Japan- 20k

Europe- 50k

Now if it is able to build up anything and it'll get holiday season it might be able to sustain some better sales down the line in Europe at least.  Thus by the end of the year:

Japan- 50k

Europe- 250k

These are total guesses by me but I would love to see this title do well but I have a bad feeling that this will be the next big flop right up with Too Human and Haze considering this title had to have cost a lot given the long development time.

I think lifetime sales WW will be between 500k-700k. I don't think the game will get any hype nor do I think the game will be good.

Well I think it'll be decent considering it was delayed due to quality control similar to Red Steel 2. But man I'd be ecstatic if it could do over 500k cause with the way things are going for it it's looking to be a huge flop. I mean just nothing behind it. I really don't understand why Ninty is doing this. I mean I can see why on games like Captain Rainbow or Wario Land because those titles cost close to nothing to make. But Disaster had to have been expensive so you'd want the title to do well.

I mean maybe i"m missing something but it doesn't make sense why'd they just stick it out there. It's almost like it was draining so much money that they just cut it off and said finish and put it out.

i think WW lifetime will be 500,000 i do howeve rhtink itn will be a good game

Yea well for me lifetime WW I'm looking about about 500k as well but I'm just trying to wonder how it'd get there haha. I just hope it releases in America early 2009.

It's hard to predict sales on a game when you have no idea what the hell it actually plays like.

But I'd imagine it'd be even harder for anyone outside the game forums to care about a game that no one has any idea ect, ect...

So I'll say low. Quite low.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Delay for quality control?

Has that ever happened?

Delay usually means that something was/is wrong right?

But anyhoo, I agree with your predictions.

WW lifetime sales will probably be from 400k-600k, maybe more if Nintendo advertises it well.

More than likely games that are delayed for long periods of time are becuase they got to the testing stage and are deemed bad.  Now usually the case is less serious such as bugs or other glitches but sometimes games will come back and are said to be absolute shit and are sent back to the drawing board.  Most games after that don't survive and are completely taken down aside from the engine the game ran on.

Disaster more than likely had this issue.  We know Red Steel 2 had this issue and there are other games that have been rumored to hit something similar such as Killzone 2.  It's really not uncommon.  I"m glad its there such that we don't get bad games.  Remember smaller individual devs can't do this such as why we get those popcorn arcade titles.  They'd never pass the approval of large publishers such as Nintendo, Ubisoft, or Sony.

Anyways yea I'd say my predictions are pretty reasonable considering the title right now.

My guess is LT sales in Japan 35k, with a first week of 9k.

Europe first week 30k, LT sales 100k.

America first week 45k, LT sales 135k.

Less than 270k WW LT sales.
