Forums - PC - Getting flash to work with Firefox 3 in Vista

I installed vista in a virtual machine last week to try it out.... it's slow as can be, and uses 350mb of memory without any programs loaded at all. But I had no problem installing the flash player and have it working in firefox no problem either.... i just went to youtube.com, click on the "download flash here" and installed it...

Maybe try a reinstall of firefox and then of flash again?

problem found. I don't think it matters what you run, using a virtual machine is always slow. Also, using less than the minimum memory (512) would cause it to use the hard disc, which will REALLY slow you down.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I have never got the Auto install for the Flash plugin to work for Firefox. Try using the manual install. Just go to Adobe Flash and download it. Make sure to close your download window also.

Obviously you've never used virtualbox to run Windows 2000 or Windows XP.  They both run with great speed.

Even vista running in a virtualbox with ALL eye candy turned off is dismally slow.

Also, I gave Vista 1.5gb of ram.  (The host system has 6gb of ram).

So yes, the problem is found, vista is a pig.

Only 350MB? On my rig it uses near 800MB without anything running (except for my AVG antivirus, which uses only about 5MB). I even tweaked Vista to death...

Ah, i have no virus scanner installed in vista... it's just a trial and I saw no need to slow it down even more.

And i also turned off all eye candy, this is likely why it's 350mb and not 800mb....

Windows and flash is a shitty combination. I couldn't get flash to work in IE6 at all on XP.
Anyway, i just a week ago installed flash on FF3 on Ubuntu, i came to VGC, clicked a flash ad and selected the upgrades i wanted to install. So obviously your problem isn't the browser, but OS.
