Forums - PC - Getting flash to work with Firefox 3 in Vista

I just got my new laptop today and I'm setting it up and every time I get to a page that needs flash it asks me to install the missing plugin.  I tell it OK and then it says none are available.

How do I get the newest version of flash for Firefox 3 with Vista?  It doesn't look like it's the 64-bit version, at least I'm pretty sure I didn't get that.

Perhaps there needs to be a new version written for the Firefox 3 plug-in?

I stepped back to Firefox 2 because the Realplayer .flv downloader wasn't available yet.

I don't think Firefox 3 is the problem here. I run Vista, and it always had trouble installing Flash. Somehow it works now, but I think it's not supposed to work on Vista.

So.... down with Vista! Up with XP!

umm, I've always had a problem installing the flash plug-in for FF on a windows PC. I always just download the manual install and run that.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I'll try that when I get home tonight. I just did the automatic stuff I could get done quickly during lunch and that was the only error I noticed.

I wish to God I had a copy of XP handy I could install on that computer but looks like I'm going to be stuck with Vista. ;_;

I installed vista in a virtual machine last week to try it out.... it's slow as can be, and uses 350mb of memory without any programs loaded at all. But I had no problem installing the flash player and have it working in firefox no problem either.... i just went to youtube.com, click on the "download flash here" and installed it...

Maybe try a reinstall of firefox and then of flash again?

I blame the browser, not the operating system ;)

Maybe it is the 64 bit thing, because I have had absolutely no problems with FF 3 on Vista. However, I did have some issues with whatever is needed for the WipEout Pulse skins, but a manual download should work

Only 350MB? On my rig it uses near 800MB without anything running (except for my AVG antivirus, which uses only about 5MB). I even tweaked Vista to death...
