Oh yeah, and the first boss is basically the only hard one in the game

Whhaa? You have to get to Disc 3 to get the best part?? Jesus Im glad I didnt buy this game.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

So it's kind of like FFXII then where you have to play for more than 16 hours for it to get good?

I'm glad to read some of these comments, I thought that everyone thought that this game was the second coming.

And just to add one more random thing to my list of gripes:

Those fucking magic pebbles that don't do a damn thing after you kill the magic rock but I can only do 2-4 points of damage to them unless I want to use Jansen's magic (because the other two's do jack shit even though they're magic armored knights) which means I just spam the action button for 5 minutes until it finally fucking dies.

If the enemies are never going to do anything else ever, just let me do more than 4 damage at a time (when they have 40 hp) or just have them die.

i liked it

I enjoyed the game until I got to disc 4. Once I had to start backtracking and grind levels my appeal for the game went away.I was so disgusted with it that I ended up trading it in without beating it and I'm not even curious how the story turned out.

The problem with LO is that it is character driven rather than plot driven. It's a story all about the characters, which is most notably achieved through the Dreams. Plot driven stories are typically easier to consume, they require less thought or analysis and are in general more superifcial. LO has more character development than any RPG I can remember, with plenty of subtlty and nuance to its storytelling. As a result it's naturally not going to appeal to the average gamer, who typically has all the subtlty of a jackhammer.

As for the OP, I recall needing to use Jansen and Fire to win that early battle. It's a difficult battle to be sure, but easily winnable with a consistent strategy. Afterall, the game is designed so you never have to grind - it is designed primarily so that you will need to use a consistent strategy to win many of the battles.

Debating with fanboys, its not
all that dissimilar to banging ones
head against a wall

i beat dvd 3 which was ultra boring, the parts where your party split up chucked the story off line.

onto dvd 4, i beat the 3 tank bosses in numara then gave up, its got a very boring and pale story.

i tried my best to like it and complete it, but it just didnt do it for me

and have traded it back in.

ps. i hate the fact that the game doesnt let you grind, it keeps you at a level that the game wants you to be, i went to the atoll place and killed the silver keleons but after about lvl45 it dont work.

some may like it some may not, i wasnt that impressed and i belive bludragon was better

You could also grind in one of the ancient ruins (forgot the name). I got my main party to level 90 to complete the DLC dungeon.

The DLC dungeon you could level in as well but it's a little risky because there are no save points and if you die you will lose your progress.

Why do you make the title : " I want to like Lost Odyssey "?
If you don't like it.
Every game has it's flaws, try and overcome them or just don't play games....

I liked it a lot on the whole...

RPGs always have boring bits that drag on towards the end...I mean it is 50 hours, FFIX\FFX\FFX-2\FFXII\Star Ocean 3...all similar lengeths were exactly the same.

You don't need much strategy for the first few bosses....of course this is an RPG, and has always been the case at the start.

@Skeeuk You CAN grind, each area has a cap, if you reach the cap go to another area with stronger beasties!!!!

Its not the best RPG, the story can drag...But for the current climate of not many RPGs being around its pretty darn good.
