E3 2007: Assassin's Creed Hands-On

Climb anything, go anywhere, kill anyone. The first true next-gen experience has arrived.

July 10, 2007 - There's been a whole lot of hubbub about the next-generation of gaming and how it will take the interactive experience to a new level. So far, this new generation of design hasn't emerged. We've instead experienced prettier and at times bigger games, but nothing that truly pushes things to that next plateau. That is until this November when Ubisoft releases Assassin's Creed on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Finally we have a game with a design worthy of being termed "next-gen."

Ohhhh please... the first true next-gen experience was Wii Sports. Do you really believe that the "take the interactive experience to a new level" is to climb anywhere? Interactivity? Tennis racket? Hello? Anyone out there?

Good post about Wii Sports. It was the first game to do something no one had ever done before, and make it work and have an impact in sales and media. Of course, if we are only using graphics, Ai and power nex-gen, then they are probably right. I wish AC has enough variety to keep you interested during all the game, it is one of the 3 reasons for getting a 360 right now for me. Hopefully tomorrow the other 2 get shown : Banjo 3and RE5. Anyone believes BK3 will have the best graphics on 360 yet like me?

Before rubido gets bashed...I agree that Wii Sports is next-gen...but that's a different kind...

Assassin's Creed is like the next step in existing game styles...

Then again, I don't really buy into the "next-gen" argument...a new game is a new game...TONS of new games introduce new concepts and gameplay ideas...

If it really is go anywhere and kill anyone in any way then yes that would be a pretty big step into 'next gen-ness'.

Cimb anything started with Crackdown, but I wanna see that in Assassin's Creed too.

i'm sorry but wii sports graphics could be done on the ps2 very easily, all they need to do is release a ps2 with a motion controller. i do not agree that it is next gen, nothing is next gen about it except for motion control.
