most will go to ps3. mgs, god of war, gran turismo, final fantasy, etc, all playstation titles. i say 15% by the end of this gen. but a lot will GO BACK to ps3. meaning they bought a 360, but will later buy a ps3.

 I totally disagree sorry.

 Why? It makes total sense.

Sorry but imo people look at the bottom dollar.

They do, but the PS3 will reach 200 at sometime.

does price really matter that much? ps3 will definately be $300 by the end of 09, and 360 will definately stay $200 (unless they want to go out of business). ps3 outsells 360 with a much higher price so that doesnt matter. more importantly, ps2 owners didnt buy their system for mario and halo. they bought it for god of war, mgs, blah blah. sure some will go to wii, even lesser will go to 360, but most will go to ps3, it only makes sense. but as of right now, i think most havent gone next gen yet. the ones that have, i say 70% have a ps3, and the rest have either a wii or ps3.

reask, you´re from the UK, correct?...Is the 360 still ahead of the PS3 over there?...if yes, is the difference still very big?

No I am Irish but to answer your question.

360 is ahead in UK.

A lot of the people new to gaming who bought thier first ps2 say between this year and 2004 obviously got it at a very low price, so its obvious that a £179 wii or a £189 xbox 360 is going to be more appealing than a £289 ps3, sure, the ps2 sold 120 million, But im sure a fair percentage of them bought it because 1. It had tonnes of games and 2. It started to get cheaper and cheaper as time moved on

I dislike sony immensly but even i owned 3 ps2's (well, i got them all 2nd hand because lining sonys pockets directly for me is not an option).......................
Hence the wii and 360 could be seen as more appealing to the neutral purely based on thier prices compared to the ps3

if they buy a ps3 they have NO SENSE.

There, I can insult to.

Yes, but can you insult with correct grammar, thus not making yourself look like the recipient of a lobotomy?

Why do people always say stuff like this? There are 120+ million PS2 owners out in the wild, so according to VGC, less than 5% of them actually care about MGS, and about half of that care for God of War. The fact is, the PS2 was popular due to its massive software library, not the first party Sony games. It becomes clear when you take a look at the majority of games sold on the console.

Of course, the Wii doesn't even have the same top selling franchises the PS2 had, but that isn't really relevant. If it was, the N64 should've done much better, because the gen before, everyone bought the SNES for Nintendo games (much more so than the PS2 for Sony games at least).

Thanks for all your thoughts it would seem the jury is still out.

I just thought the low price would be an incentive.

My first console was the ps2 but I really dont have any loyalty to either one.

That was the market I was thinking of when I done the thread.

I have a PS2 and I _WAS_ going to get a 360 until my cousin took too long with our deal for his. So I'm waiting for the price drop in Canada for the 360 so I can Jump in. :b
