does price really matter that much? ps3 will definately be $300 by the end of 09, and 360 will definately stay $200 (unless they want to go out of business). ps3 outsells 360 with a much higher price so that doesnt matter. more importantly, ps2 owners didnt buy their system for mario and halo. they bought it for god of war, mgs, blah blah. sure some will go to wii, even lesser will go to 360, but most will go to ps3, it only makes sense. but as of right now, i think most havent gone next gen yet. the ones that have, i say 70% have a ps3, and the rest have either a wii or ps3.

Why do people always say stuff like this? There are 120+ million PS2 owners out in the wild, so according to VGC, less than 5% of them actually care about MGS, and about half of that care for God of War. The fact is, the PS2 was popular due to its massive software library, not the first party Sony games. It becomes clear when you take a look at the majority of games sold on the console.
Of course, the Wii doesn't even have the same top selling franchises the PS2 had, but that isn't really relevant. If it was, the N64 should've done much better, because the gen before, everyone bought the SNES for Nintendo games (much more so than the PS2 for Sony games at least).
