Forums - Microsoft - Want to know how enormous Albion in Fable 2 will be?

I´m wondering how much did they packed on one DVD, the game sounds big, but how big and how repetitive it is?

This game looks so cool. I'm loving the artstyle and it sounds like a WRPG I could actually get into.

How was the original? I heard it was somewhat of a letdown, but I'm thinking of picking it up for PC.

It was a letdown if you let Peter Molyneux hype you up.

If you just played the game by itself, it was a pretty awesome game.

Here's hoping this one turns out to be one of the good Molyneux games.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Can I ride a horse? Or will it be more like LO to get around?

Do they have a travel system? I would hate to have to run all that.

Probably. You could teleport in the original Fable.

Teleportation is confirmed to be returning.

Hm.  I guess I'll check it out.

I agree. The game was fantastic. If I'd never heard a word of hype about it, I'd have probably given it a 9+/10 and called it a surprise sleeper hit.

However, I had been looking forward to it for, literally a year, and ended up giving it an 8/10 because of that, and many lies told about the game by its creator.

Still, I look back on it as one of my fondest memories of the Xbox, and I still think the game is great and has stood the test of time.

The thing you have to remember is we were expecting a game we would be playing for all time, that spanned hundreds of hours. What we got was an 12 hour game that, while fantastic, was very linear and humorous, and had virtually no reason to keep playing it after you'd finished, with no sidemissions that weren't really part of the main story.

That's why it's known as "dissapointing." Not because it's a bad game, no, certainly not. Instead because it was supposed to be the greatest game of all time, and instead turned out only to be a great rpg with humor and goofy british artstyle taking lead over epic story and content. Even the good and evil aspects gave you no reason to play through the game twice, as it played out in very much the same way, which is still dissapointing.

So yeah, I would say that everyone needs to play Fable. It's a great RPG landmark, and reference for gamers that will be referred back to for generations. However, it should also be played as a reminder of how important it is to market your game for what it is, and not an idea of what you want it to be.

What we were expecting wasn't even the same damn genre for what we got.

Again, however, the game is still fun today....and yes, everyone was even MORE excited before Fable 1, than we are before Fable 2.

I would equate the Fable 1 letdown to Fable 2 if:

Fable 2 came out tomorrow and it was actually a very good On-Rails Shooter, instead of an RPG. Then, and only then, could Fable 2 equal the dissapointment felt when Fable was released. It's still a very good game. However, it's not really the type of game that most people were led to believe it was. We would have been happy to get excited about an On-Rails shooter, if Molyneux had told us that's what it was. Instead he lied and told us it was a game crafted by the god of time, and he was just the tool said epic god worked through, and when we played it all would be right for the rest of the days of our lives.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Sorry guys, but this is a molyneux game. so it will be a failure again.

Failure like the 85 Fable got on Metacritic AFTER being marked down for not reaching hype levels, alongside 3 million in sales on the Xbox alone?
