I expect the 360 to sell quite a bit more than the PS3 this Christmas.

Wait, really? I expected a Microsoft analyst to predict that the PS3 would outsell the 360 this holiday season, but apparently he believes the 360 will be the victor. My goodness, how shocking! It's almost as if he's betting against the market to convince others of a favorable future for the company HE WORKS FOR.

Maybe this thread should be locked since the analyst isn't from MS and its just spreading more FUD...

How peoples opinions change, one minute the ps3 fans say the ps3 is outselling the 360 despite there been no big releases for the ps3 this year...... but hang on, didn't MGS 4 come out no more than a mere 2 months ago? and what about the almighty Gran turismo 5 prologue? 2 of the biggest franchises that sony can call upon that BOTH happened to be bundled and you wonder why the ps3 has caught up a bit? On to more pressing matters, according to the sony defence force (of which i think 90% use VGchartz) those 2 games alone were supposed to be 360 killers..... thats not what i see when i look at sales, yes, the ps3 is currently selling better than the 360, but to think that the ps3 can beat the 360 this holiday is insane, LBP a console seller? maybe so but not anymore than say Fable 2 or Left 4 Dead.......

Many people played and many people loved Gears of war 1 but Gears of war 1 came out at a time that the 360 was rampant with RROD.... theres undoubtedly quite a lot of people who sold their 360's due to RROD who will be returning to the 360 upon Gears 2's release..... In fact i'll go on record and say it now.... Gears 2 singlehandedly will ensure more 360's are sold this holiday than ps3's are sold with LBP

For me , the combination of the 360 price cut, Gears 2, Fable 2, Banjo: Nuts and bolts and Left 4 Dead alone will be enough to ensure that the 360 easily beats the ps3 this holiday season

Microsofts attach rate is not to be underestimated

Gears 2 will come, people will buy it......... Simple as that

A pricecut is only temporary and will only spike the first few weeks then go back to normal like there was never a pricecut in the first place. Also this is only in NA and not in Europe. Not like it will affect WW sales drastically. Just a time for Xbox 360 owners to rejoice for a few weeks before the Wii and PS3 sales start kicking in later with their game releases.

I don't think that's how it works, I believe 0.5/1 means you win 50 Cents for every $1 you bet, not that they take your $1 and only give you 50 Cents back.

you mean like how MS likes to only talk about American numbers because it is their only stronghold? I know exactly what you mean. They are steadily loosing fast in Others and Japan. Japan simply refuses to accept them while others are slowly going towards PS3 more because of the hits they grew up with. Singstar is a huge hit over there so is Resistance. I can not tell you how Resistance online is overloaded with German and other assorted foriegn speaking  people.I think Sony might takes Others entirely by the end of the fiscal year.

And they might have at least passed the halfway mark of 360 sales in America.

He writes a lot of good articles on Gamasutra about the US market after NPD numbers are released.

360 should beat PS3 in US this holiday after the price cut, excluding MGS4 release month PS3 has only been marginally outselling 360 in US, so it isn't really a question of if 360 will outsell PS3, but by how much?

Worldwide it's a different story, 360 has already had a price cut and still gets outsold by PS3 in Europe, and that will likely only start to increase next month when PES releases. The Japanese price cut is unlikely to turn things around for 360 there either. Price really isn't Microsoft's problem in Japan.

The way I see it 360 will outsell PS3 in NA, but it probably won't be by enough to make up for PS3 outselling it in Europe & Japan.
