Firefox is probably better than Chrome though

Actually someone ran Chrome and Firefox side by side on identical laptops, and Chrome beat Firefox every time.

But Firefox is open source, so probably tons of people are working on making it faster as we speak.

It may of been faster on the few pages they used, but for now in a total package FF is by far superior, and I am a major Google lover. Google needs a bit of time on the open source market before I make my inevitable switch.

This will be more interesting in a month after it has been out a while. I'm willing to bet it will be lower.

Anyone remember cuil and how awesome that was the first week it was up?

Google Chrome will be huge.

I've never heard of konqueror. What is it? Good for google, Chrome sounds nice.

those stats are inaccurate, it states firefox at 31%

I use firefox and like it but by far most places say firefox marketshare is at best in the 15-20% of browsers.

I'm betting they're just overtracking early adopters and tech people who are more likely to be using firefox and new programs like chrome.

konqueror is defualt browser of kde desktop under linux and it was also the codebase for the developement for the webkit html rendering engine that is now used in safari and chrome.

Says it's at 1.19% and it's tracking it hourly...

I'm using it right now, it's pretty good, but it still has some kinks to be worked out, that's okay because it's in Beta though. A major problem right now that I see is the memory usage as you add more tabs, I was at almost 70MB with 4 or 5 tabs open....

Firefox 3 sucks balls, I removed that POS from my computer and went downloaded Firefox 2 again.

I'm just looking forward to the release of IE8.... not because I like IE, but because once it's out, new company policy = IE6 no longer supported. IE7+, Mozilla, other "real" browsers only

It will be a motherfucking happy day when I no longer have to include IE6 css hacks and deal with javascript workarounds for bullshit like transparent pngs or hover attributes. Or just dealing with IE6's quirks in general.

AMEN!  I frickin' hate IE6- hacks.

Chrome is better in most ways but it won't let you ad block, I just can't browse any more without ad block as an option because of the WAY overused flash movies. I can't read or concentrate with 90 movies going in every corner of my screen (not to mention the resources those movies waste). In chrome you can end task flash whenever you go to a new page but its nowhere near as good. I would use Chrome over Firefox if they add an adblocker or at least an option to load plug ins so I can get an adblocker from someone else.

I HATE HATE HATE Internet Explorer. My wife is a web designer and has had SO many sites broken because IE 6 and 7 can't use Javascript correctly. It's like those programs were coded by a kid with down syndrome in comparison to firefox/safari/chrome (which uses webkit just like safari does). I hate flash these days and Javascript gives you almost everything flash does (and sometimes more). The day every browser is a standards based browser (and not some crap active X using proprietary browser like IE became) will be a good day. If Chrome helps us towards that day more power to them!

I hope google gets a distribution deal when its done with Beta. Getting Chrome on the desktop of dells and other computers for non enthusiasts as an option (like AOL was) is the only way to really increase adoption in the mass market.
