Maybe, Resistance 2 looks really good so anything can happen.

I think it's a possibility. But then I've got a reasonably fast PC, and I just don't get the idea of shooters on a console - mouse is way better. I really enjoyed Motorstorm, and it's still *the* game that makes everyone say wow and want to play (in my collection at least). I'll definitely be buying it for the split screen play.

Personally I'm playing GT5P more at the moment but it takes too much skill and practice - with Motorstorm anyone can pick up a controller and have a good race so it's always one to play when there's people round.

I'm from the EU, and there is definitely a clear difference in the games people play. I just don't know anyone who would play shooters on a console, but most people have a few racing games and quite frequently steering wheels etc as well.

The no racers coming out this winter aside from NFS (right?) would make a racer pretty uncommon, MS2 could sell just for that.

I don't think so, unless it's bundled again. A large portion of the original's sales came from bundles, and you have to remember that MotorStorm is just an off road racer. They're not exactly the most popular games. MotorStorm was also the first decent game to release after Resistance, if you recall.

With games like Pure and Baja coming out, it will take a lot for MotorStorm 2 to match the original's success, and I think it will fall at least a million short of Resistance 2 (a game looking to be MUCH better than the original - not to say that MotorStorm 2 isn't a lot better than the original either, of course). Provided the game isn't heavily bundled again, of course.

I believe that the theory of the shooter genre being crowded is just silly. Hell, holiday season 2007 had dozens of shooters (Halo 3, Call of Duty, Blacksite, Timeshift, Stranglehold, just to name a few), and that didn't stop the success of AT LEAST the first two. The others were generally flops, mainly for being average or mediocre games. Having lots of high profile shooters will only make the genre more popular. And isn't Fallout an RPG? I'm not a huge fan of the series so count me confused.

You could also argue that Motorstorm will face competition from Need for Speed and Midnight Club as well. Just remember that back at the time, Motorstorm was considered the second decent exclusive game for the PS3 (it had a launch of 100k in the Americas, which was considered a milestone for the PS3 back then). Without the bundles, I just couldn't see Motorstorm hitting the mark.

I actually loved Resistance 1! And its getting alot more hype than Motorstorm PR, so its gonna outsell it for sure. I think in terms of real life sale, more people bought resistance individually than motorstorm, as that was more heavily bundled. Doesnt matter, both are looking to be great games. Both will sell over 2 mil LTD, both are gonna be a success.
