Forums - Gaming - 279.99$ 360 Elite, what should I do?

Where I work I can get a deal on a 360 elite bundle for 279.99$.  They haven't been selling very fast at all.  I believe the deal was originally 379.99$ but they dropped it down even more in price for some reason.

I'll explain a bit about my situation

Just moved into a new house and have a lot of new house expenses that have drained my wallet.

My wife doesn't want me to buy any more game systems.

I have a huge back log of games on my Wii and DS I need to clear and I rarely have enough time to play.

I'm not sure what Xbox games I'd buy...  I like the arcade games but I'm not a fan of shooters that require you to use something other then a Wiimote or a mouse and keyboard.

How can I justify this to myself and my Wife?  It would have been easier if the deal was on a PS3 and I told her...  "It's a Blu Ray player!" but how do I convince her and myself that it was worth it? ;)

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

so let me work this out...

you don't have the time, or the money, or the consent of your wife...and you don't really like xbox games to boot.

Ouch, sounds like a dealbreaker.

The only thing that comes to mind re: justifying the purchase might be Lips. How does your wife feel about karaoke?

Dont do it bud, you got wii and ds games to play. You will spew when it rrod and you will wish you had spent the money on house stuff.

Angry wife = sad life

 Nice 1000th post lol

As Kitler said, there dont seem to be many reasons for you to get a 360

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I wouldn't risk pissing off the wife because of a game system, specially when you already own two. If you do buy the elite and at some point it breaks, she'll have a field day mopping the floor with you.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

In my opinion, reasons 1 and 2 are the deal breakers for you. Really, reason 2 trumps everything else. Unless you can get her in a similar situation where she needs your "approval" to buy something she wants ...

I'm in the same situation as your resason 3. I have more than enough Wii games to keep me busy for several months (and more coming that I'll be purchasing soon), and yet I seem to think I want one of the other consoles as well.

Even then, a PS2 with most the versions of SingStar is cheaper and out now.

But like msot have said, wife says 'no', that's a no.

Hmm, pie.

If the games don't convince you, don't bother. No system is worth owning by itself. And no system is worth pissing off your significant other, ever.

What Wii games are in your back catalog, by the way?
