Forums - Sales - PS3 sold out at some stores?

Well, I decided to peek at the CC's in my area and now 3 of the 4 stores are sold out of PS3's. Apparently the deal for the free controller is spurring sales considerably in this area. Including myself, 6 people I know have purchased a PS3 this week. The few left are those who are in no way a hardcore gamer and will just wait for it to drop in price some more before they pick one up.

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

I was at circuit city today.. overheard a guy asking for a ps3 and the clerk told him they were sold out.... either they had very low stock or the 60gb price reduction is making a difference

people flock to circuit city because of their free wireless controller deal.  stock is everywhere at target, gamestop, walmart, etc.  and due to the slow sales earlier, it would be silly that circuit city use up all their storage space for ps3 when they have much hotter things like televisions, pc's, digital cameras, and games, just to name a few.

i'm actually more interested in the growth rate of the ps3 sales after 3 months. :)

Come on, I understand u re happy but wait VGC sales numbers or NPD to get confirmation.

Some stores sold-out in some areas doesnt mean massive sale numbers for Sony

Time to Work !

I tried putting 999 consoles into amazon.com.

Your cost could be $500,452.52 instead of $500,482.52! Get the Amazon.com Visa® Card INSTANTLY and you'll automatically get $30.00 back after your first purchase.

Unfortunately, I had 1-click ordering turned on.

Seriously though, I couldn't see how many consoles there were without actually completing the order.

ok, I noticed that there was an option to pay by check, so I selected it and apparently they had 999 consoles (and would have charged my credit card if I hadn't picked the check). I guess I'm not clear when it actually says how many they have in stock. As soon as you change the quantity?

I tried it on some other items and I was able to buy 999 of them too. I doubt that amazon.com has 999 copies of "Non-Melt Processible Fluoroplastics Handbook" in stock.

No, the whole point of posting that was saying that one retailer is, for the most part, sold out. I never said I expect massive sales or anything. Look at my predictions for next week, I picked less than double sales.
