Forums - Nintendo - Who here buys games as a collectors item?

I was browsing eBay for N64 games and came across this.

I prefer to buy new but I'm not going to go this far.  Does anyone here buy games new just to keep it in the original packaging?  If not, do you know anyone who would spend this much on a game?

I can't imagine someone buying this.

I tend to buy my games boxed with manuals so it costs more, bit I dont intend on leaving them sealed.

I do that too, I don't mind spending an extra 10-20 bucks for a vintage game (I like having my games in pristine condition) but there comes a point where you have to say no LOL

What's the most expensive game you purchased?  I looked into Castlevania X for SNES - a used one goes for around $90 (box+manual).  I didn't get it LOL I was tempted though

I collect based on what's available, what I'm looking for and how much money I have at the time.

If I can get a good deal on a game with case/box and manual, then I go for it.

Most of my Genesis games are lacking their cases, except for Forgotten Worlds (a truly awesome game), and they're all lacking manuals.

I do, strangely enough, have manuals for two of my 6 Atari 2600 games: Combat and Defender.

My coolest is that I have the original Dragon Warrior (American name of Dragon Quest) for the NES with it's box (somewhere), it's instruction manual, it's map, it's "starters" guide book, and information card that all came with the game.

I would never ever sell any of my games whether it's good or bad... I keep everything from the box to the instruction manuals that come with the game. It even hurts me to rip the transparent sheet when I have to open them ;-;

the most expensive game I was ever tempted to buy was Stack-Up on the NES, I couldent actually afford the thing so I dident get it, but damn as it tempting.
