Nintendo started advertising a month before Metroid Prime 3 release. I think they go the similar way for disaster.
But I really don't understand this new way from nintendo to advertise games only short before release.

OH OK, thank goodness
about the advertising thing, its not only Ninty doing it, even third parties are doing it and its not that bad either for their thinking that their games will sell well anyway regardless and becomes a sleeper hit. No More Heroes and boom blox is pops out on my mind...
end of core gaming days prediction:
E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced
E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.
E3 2010- Tape runs out

Ok, you who think Nintendo isn't advertising this, why should they do it months in advance? Nobody's going to remember anyway the hype 3 months back. It still has nearly 2 months to get hype before release.

We all know, that Nintendo's core games are sold to a very specific crowd. Nintendo could say, "Hey it comes out next tuesday" and we would all line up like good little soldiers.
The only reason they don't put it that close? Because they don't want to cause an increase in convenience store robberies and muggings. They like to give us some time to transfer from the money market to the checking.
