Dodece, I gave dozens of reasons and the best you can give are "demographics" and "LULZ FANBOY LUST?" Enchanted Arms sold better on the PS3 than the 360 despite the game only having data for the Americas and the PS3 having a far lower userbase there. When you include data for Japan and PAL (if it was released in PAL), then the difference might be even larger.

We've seen plenty of big series on the Playstation 1 and 2 transition to the PS3 and see huge sales, even if they've sold more on the 360 (Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Call of Duty, Need for Speed, etc.). You can argue that the PS3 version won't sell as much as some people believe, but don't try to convince me or anyone else that the 360 version will sell better. You know it won't and so do I.

Not really the best example. What RPGs do PS3 owners have available besides Enchanted Arms? What RPGs do 360 owners have to choose from besides Enchanted Arms? Do I think FFXIII on the 360 will outsell the PS3 version? Nope. The game will win because of Japan. In the US, the 360 version has a good chance of trumping the PS3 game but that won't make up for the million plus gap that Japanese exclusivity creates.

Edit:

@Tombi123

You do realize that the PS3 is at just over 2 million units old in Japan right. I highly doubt FFXIII will hit 2 million units sold in Japan.

First, the PS3 install base in Japan should be a fair bit higher with WKC and the March bundle +more by the time FFXIII is released. Second, FFXIII will likely move a lot of Hardware.

Lifetime sales of 2 Million is easily reachable

What everyone usually overlooks in these discussions is that the demographics for both consoles are not the same. First the typical 360 consumer on average is a more aggressive purchaser. Second the 360 is a role playing console. More so now then before the Final Fantasy announcement.

To be very plain if we are talking a huge title, and one in a predominantly 360 genre we should expect the adoption rate for the title to be much higher on the 360 then on the PS3. Further more one market is entirely irrelevant thus far this generation, and that market would be Japan. Japan has a real hard on for portable gaming. The market seems downright chilly for the genre on consoles. Even Dragon Quest has yet to drag itself over a million units sold total on the regions dominant platform.

I have never understood the logic that somehow the PS3 is going to move a lot of role playing games. When it has yet to ever sell more then a half a million units even in its limited library. I also do not understand the logic that says the typical PS3 owner even wants to play this genre anyway. I know it was used as a sword in fanboy debates, but the blade even then seemed rusty. Were the typical PS3 owner truly interested in this genre they would have not bought a PS3 especially a year after launch. Once the 360 had over a dozen titles compared to all of three the PS3 had. Even now it is questionable whether a genre fan should pick up a PS3. While there is ample incentive for them to pick up a 360.

This goes beyond install bases. This goes to the core of the demographics. Were we talking about a fantastic first person shooter with a wonderful online component being for both platforms. There would be no debate the 360 would sell more, because the 360 install base adores that genre. I am not entirely sure what it is that sets the PS3 user base off, but it is a totally different beast.

I see no reason for the supposition that the PS3 will sell more thirteen beyond stupid fanboy lust. There needs to be some actual proof that this console can move this genre. The average owner isn't going to just buy this title, because they are expected to.

evidenced by all those multi-million sellers....wait

First you completely ignore Japan, then you say "genre fans" have no reason to grab a PS3. FFVsXIII and White Knight Chronicles (Level 5 being the key) is more then enough for any true "genre fan" to grab a console.

somewhere around vgchart life we will see a thread

"Gran turismo 5 will sell more on the 360 even if its a ps3 exclusive first party game"

ok, now 3.5m is too much

  • FFVII - 3.93M
  • FFVIII - 3.64M
  • FFIX -  2.80M
  • FFX - 3.03M
  • FFX-2 - 2.42M
  • FFXII - 2.42M

So somewhere around 2.5M is a good guess for FF13

Yes, another Level 5 fan those guys don't get enough recognition I can't wait for WKC

I agree with you though and Even if FFVSXIII wasn't exclusive i'd buy the PS3 for the Level 5 games which unfortunatly the  Xbox360 owners won't have the pleasure of playing.

yeah Level 5 is indeed awesome

Dark Cloud (especially #2), Jeanne D'arc, Rogue Galaxy and DQVIII. That's a mighty fine resume. There was somebody on this boards saying that Level 5 has also put in an effort to improve on their storytelling and characterization.

It'd be almost impossible for FFXIII on the X360 to outsell the PS3 version, without a Japanese release. That's like 2 big, burly boxers fighting, and one boxer has his hands tied behind his back.

Japan WILL see no less than 1m units sold on the PS3, but i think it could hit 1.4-1.8m based on the preformance of MGS4.

North America will go the X360's way due to the trending of the X360's install base. I think XIII in NA could see anywhere from a 250,000-1,000,000 unit difference between the X360 and PS3.

Europe will probably go the PS3's way, but not by a large margin: 250,000-500,000 units should be expected.

So in the West, the X360 should lead by upto 500,000 units. Problem is, Japan adds in 1 million+ units, and suddenly the PS3 version will sell more. Again, you can't think very reasonably that a game can launch in 2 of 3 regions and do better when said title preforms equally in all 3 regions.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
