Forums - Gaming - Can the worldwide 360-PS3 gap decrease to only 3 million by January 2009?

Price cuts in the US and Japan with huge library of good games and a nice selection of games coming out this holiday should help M$ increase its lead on the PS3 to 7m IMO.

Well if the poll on the front page is any indicator...it looks like most everyone on the site thinks the ps3 will be within 3 mill of the 360.

I think the gap will be between 4 and 4.5 million. And thats if the price-cuts have minimal effect.

360 won't sell over 6 million over xmas so its likely it will be around 3-4 million or even less by that time.
but i don't except them to go faster til gran turismo and final fantasy xii (japan) are released.

The gap between PS3-X360 will be less than half a million by January 2009. I say PS3 could be in front.

I personally don't believe that the lead will be cut by much more than a million or two, if that.

if ps3 has no price cuts this year the gap would be 4 million if they have a price cut the gap would be 3 million

most likely 4.5 to 4. the xbox is getting a price cut and some decent games.

my top 5 right now. 1. uncharted 2 2. assassin's creed 2 3. god of war 3 4. final fantasy xiii 5. blue dragon: awakened shadow.

I think its like 70-30 that it wont happen, 360 is getting a price cut both in Us and Japan so it will be hard for Ps3.

+ accesory price cuts for the Aussies and the Kiwis--

Unless the PS3 gets a price drop, it's not going to happen. At the current rate of reduction (~45000 units/week), the PS3 will close the gap to 4.7 million by the end of December (16 weeks). Based on that info, I would say 4 million is possible, but not likely because of the impending Xbox price drop in North America. Increased YoY sales in Europe will offset this somewhat, but not enough to make 3 million remotely possible. If the PS3 gets a price drop between now and the end of the year, it may be possible, but without one, not a chance.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
