Forums - Gaming - Sequels, Prequels and when do you play?

I have this HORRIBLE habit of refusing to play a game, or read a book if there's a book/game that comes before it.  I spent DAYS looking for Path of Radiance because I refuse to play Radiant Dawn until I've played through the first game.  I refuse to read books unless it's done in chronogical/story order.

Anyone else like that?  I have Metroid Prime 3 but I barely played it because I have never touched 1 or 2 and I think it's a must.

Though it is nice to have played the full franchise in sequence, I don't mind popping in a game if I am not required to have played the others to have any idea what the Hell is going on. Let's just say that I'm really glad that I played all the MG:S games in their proper order.

That's what I mean.  There's a lot of story you can miss out on and many games don't really try to catch you up as best as it would be to have played through on your own.  It's just a little quirk of mine.

Most of the time, though I have managed to play many without playing previous ones, I will just look up the story online
