I don't think they need to do anything except keep releasing great games, keep improving Live, and continue to drive down costs to remain profitable.

Home is not going to change the world. Home is just another network to join and waste your time with. It appears to be highly over-hyped.

Gaming is about games. Not social networking and running around yet another virtual world...

It depends on the impact of Home.

They could always throw some cash towards Sony to make Home Multiplat :P

I can only see Home turning out to be a big white elephant for Sony. It will not be an environment that allows the user to quickly carry out desired actions. Sony have painted themselves into a corner by investing so much time and money in the project and hyping it to high heaven. I believe these are the reasons why it continues to be in development. Sony are obligated to provide the service now that they have created so much anticipation, but they just cannot deliver on the promises.

If and when it does get released I anticipate initial euphoria from Sony users followed by a realisation that it just gets in the way.

If Home is a success, Microsoft will make their own version and call it "The Crib".

MS will see if it actually works and see how successful it is first. If its a success then expect a clone. If it bombs then MS won't have to do anything about it.

You can be sure that someone at MS has got Home beta and has already evaluated the perceived pros and cons. The fact that the changes they are introducing borrow more from Nintendo's interface speaks volumes.

I'm sorry... But SOE isn't even doing this and they are the only part of Sony that could even put this stuff together. Unless they handed it to SOE which would explain the sudden pipe dream turned reality.
