I am, and have been for quite some time, one of the people who believe that LBP will be a "relative failure". I think it might go to 3 million lifetime, but 2 million sounds more likely. Don't know what to expect for 1st week sales... Between 600 and 900k worldwide maybe? It will not be a failure, but it will not be a huge hit either.

What games are you even comparing?? Only a handful of games sell over 3 or 4 million, that aren't ip's with an already established fanbase. LBP selling 2 million and being a new ip is a failure??? Lol! Anyway, it'll sell well.

Hey genius. The keyword is "relative".

I'd like to think that I was the reason for starting this thread, with starting the whole "LBP will be huge" thing and working it into so many of my posts.

IMO, I'd say that "huge" would constitute outselling the highest game on the PS3, bundled/non-bundled which is GTA IV right now with 4.35 million, which all said and done would top out at 5 million or so.

So if LBP gets to 5 million by the time it's done selling, it'd have been huge.

Myself, I've been predicting 3-5 million lifetime and an opening week of 500k or so.

I think this game will probably sell 3-4 million at least, and over 5 million is feasible. Anything less than 2 million will be a flop, imo.

However, I also believe that this game will have very nice legs given the type of game it is, and it may take quite some time to get to these numbers (2+ years to reach 5 million, if it does).

But yeah, anything less than 2 million in a few years would be a flop at this point, imo, especially now that we know it's going to be bundled in some territories immediately upon release. I always figured this game would be bundled at some point (it's the perfect game for it), but I figured it wouldn't happen until at least a few months after the fact, like MotorStorm.

As for "huge", I'd say that really strong sales (5+ mil.) plus a well known brand are a good indicator of success. I believe this game's sales will be limited somewhat by install base and demographics, but that a LOT of people will know about it that don't own a ps3, and thus haven't bought the game. If Sackboy really does become some sort of mascot for Sony, than it would be considered huge.

LBP will be huge. with bundles and long legs LBP will sell 10 million :]

To me, 4 million + is considered "Huge."

Games are rarely huge.

2 million or below would be a failure. 2-4 would be debatable. 4-6 million + is a huge game, and a win. 6 million + is an epic win.

The game was very expensive to create, and is one of the most hyped games I've ever encountered. If it only sells around 2 million copies, honestly, I won't be impressed. With all that hype and money, I think expectations will be high. However, I won't be claiming "flop or win" either way. That's just my opinion. If I'm asked about it, or if the subject comes up, I'll just quote this post here, so I won't seem like a sony hater/lover when the game launches and it does/doesn't meet my expectations.

This is only my opinion.

Screw my answer. This is where it's at.

Actually...I'd half that number because I'm paranoid but it would be awesome if it were a 10 million seller lol.

At 5 million, the game would be huge, and a win for Sony. 6 million plus is epic win and Sony has a new Marioesque franchise.

5 million is really stretching it. 2-3 million lifetime is already a success.

With Bundles and the right advertising could create the legs that it would need to get 5 million but if it does make 6 million, I think it would be the highest selling non-Mario platform out in a long time. (I say that because I'm too lazy to look at how much the original Sonics sold)

original sonics? OR more recently the Naughtydog developed Crash Banidcoot games.
