Forums - Sony - Who else thinks Sony needs to kill the PS2?

i wish they would to drive up ps3 sales but they would lose money so ig uess they really couldnt

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.

calm down, its all sonys plan.

and plus its stupid to cut off a product which is makin alot of money.

ps2 is now aimed for the younger kids, even if they have some adult games on it.

ps3 is for older kids and aldults so once the lil ps2 fans start loving the ps2 but start gettin older they willl be more likely buy the ps3 cuz it'll be like movin to a bigger house.

and ps2 = extra cash money in sony's pockets.

No.

The people who are buying a PS2 now, are not going to spend $400 on a console. The PS2 is taking away hardly any (if any at all) sales away from the PS3.

Sony make more money selling a PS2 then a PS3.

Never!

PS2 is indeed the greatest console ever.

Why would they do that?

Around the Network

Once they ship out 150 million PS2's then they should cut it so around the end of 09

I can't believe anyone is still buying a PS2 or games for it. The system is like 8 years old. I would never waste money on technology so outdated.

"If you don't like me, bite me!"

It could help, but I think they would have to reintroduce backwards compatibility in the PS3.

Sony couldn't kill the PS2 if they wanted to , used PS2's would still sell and some 3rd parties titles and multiplatofrm releases would still apear on the PS2.

It's still very much debated how the userbase of the PS2 would migrate to this gen , what console they would choose .

why kill something that is still profitable , still getting good support. I think blaming PS2 for PS3 lack of success is a bit silly, PS1 did not hurt PS2, people just might not be interested in the type of product that PS3 is.
