Forums - Nintendo - How are you liking your Wii and is it what you thought it would Bii?

I have owned my Wii for a year now.

I like it, it has provided me with some good entertainment.

I now have 20 games for it and feel I have a respectable library.

Wii Fit is amazing and makes me feel that Nintendo really is behind the VG revolution.

in saying this I think you all are aware that I have also had my disgruntlements about some of the games I've bought and I am activly looking forward to my XBOX360 purchase.

Star Wars games are going to be Highly anticipated for me as well as Guitar Hero, but for the near future I see my interest waning besides these titles.

I think in future years the Wii will pick back up and wow me some more but in the meantime the 360 will probably rule

Basically, what's your story in relation to this.

How long have you had your Wii, How do you like it, so on and so forth, future thoughts, and overall rating of your exp.

My rating 7/10 ; Don't get me wrong its a winner in a lot of ways, but it just hasn't kept me like my older systems did.  Right now too many of the titles are lack luster and the controls tend to annoy me rather thanthrill me (but certainly not in all cases).  Biggest plusses are the Resurrection of Screen Shooters on HDTVs and the overall sleek design of the Wiimote.  Drawback, the inovation was ahead of the curve and devolopers have yet to tackle it.

Wii has clocked more hours than my: XBOX, Neo*Geo Pocket Color, Nintendo DS (just DS games/GBA on DS no count), Game Gear, Magnavox Odyssee, SEGA Master System, Saturn and Virtual Boy

but not as much as my: Atari VCS, NES, Genesis, Nintendo64, Playstation, Game Boy, GBA, and Gamecube (or PC for that Matter).  (Other people's SNES would fit here, I never did own my own /cry)

"Bii?" No comment on that...

Well, when I first got my Wii I loved it; I got addicted to that tank game in Wii Play, Zelda was my first legit Wii game, liked it a lot, and Mario Galaxy rocked, then MLB Power Pros just had me hooked.

Then I resorted to things like Big Brain Academy and Super Paper Mario (not really interested in Metroid) and my Wii experience just got shot to hell.

I'd eventually like to try out Okami and No More Heroes, though. But even taking those two into account, I just dont think the Wii's my style. I actually like most single player games better than multiplayer games. I find the multiplayer games I own somewhat entertaining (Power Pros and the tank game in WiiPlay warrant special mention), the Wii's heavy hitters (Brawl, MK) just dont do anything for me.

and edit before people flame the crap out of me, I'm not saying the Wii's a bad console, I'm just saying it doesn't mesh with my gaming tastes well. They'd need to come out with a new Mario and Zelda every half year to keep up with that...

Everything I can do on an Xbox or a PS3 I had long since done on a PC. Been there done that, bought tee shirt. I was totally bored by the same games a little prettier and found myself having less and less actual fun. As you get older the less you enjoy proving your dick’s bigger by defeating each and every other player at the FPS de jour.
I found the control system less satisfying and more frustrating and found that I could never get past the feeling that I was just controlling little pixel marionettes on a screen in a game that I was merely a spectator to and never really getting to participate in.

So in answer to your question, Hell yes, I freaking love it because can get my sorry fat ass off the couch and I feel like I’m in the games. So the short answer is if Wii Sports and Mario Karts were the only games ever made, I’d still prefer it to an HD console and when motion plus arrives I won’t even remember there are other consoles.

I like my Wii okay. It's a Nintendo console, and Nintendo hasn't let me down yet. My only real problems with it is the lack of AAA third party support and the graphics.

Man cannot live by Nintendo alone. Regardless of which Nintendo home console I owned (and I rocked 'em all), I had to enjoy some non-Nintendo fare sprinkled in with Nintendo's genre defining hits. This time, I HAD to have at least one other console to satisfy my needs (and yes, I have Okami, RE4, No More Heroes, and a ton of lesser known fare). I'm all for innovation, but there are certain things one expects from a new console......

It's called video games. "Video" games. I'm far from a graphics whore. I didn't need a Neo Geo, a 3DO, or even an XBox in the past. I just needed the good games. Now, don't get me wrong. In my opinion, the absolute best adventure, racing, fighting, platform, and FPS (if you can call Metroid Prime3 an FPS) are all on the Wii. It just bothers me how little improvement these games are (graphically) compared to last gen (Prime, Kart, Galaxy, Brawl, Twilight Princess are all marginally improved graphically). Never before has the jump from one gen to the next been so miniscule. I hate to say it, but in my opinion, it hurts the experience. I'm constantly telling myself "This is great, but if only.........."

The concept and execution are top notch. I love the system's functionality, and feel. With the Motion Plus peripheral, I expect to be wowed again! Still, those two gaping holes in Nintendo's armor can't be denied.

So far, I give the Wii an 8/10.
By comparison, the PS3 also garners an 8/10, and the 360 gets a 9/10. This gen is far from over, and I look forward to the consoles duking it out for my love!

I like it. Shooters and ir isn't that full filling but MP3 was awesome in terms of additional interactive elements. Thats what im hoping for more of especially from next year.

Don't have enough sporting games but thats because every tennis one sucks and dk about the others.

I rate the Wii an 8 for current application. 10 for future capabilities, both for BB and mote. Im optimistic

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I had my wii since the February of 2007, and I like it for the games that it has and the many games that will come out for it, it's my second console... only behind the SNES. so far the game I'm looking forward to it is Animal Crossing this November.

I have mine since launch (actually a day before launch) and i'm not too thrilled with the library right now. I only use it for Wii Fit now, which i am addicted to xD

But i like it overall, and i will love it when some JRPGs come out for it.

Coming up on three months.

I'm happy, but only because I had 2 years worth of games to catch up on, so it's been getting a lot of playtime.

I imagine in six months or so, I'll be jaded and all, "I hate the Wii". >_>
