Forums - Gaming - An article from a Wii owner who's "Not So Impressed With the Wii Anymore"

And you got slammed for a negative Wii article as expected.

It's obviously a Nintendo conspiracy on this site. When will the corruption end? :)

On Topic: I honestly can't even understand why people were so excited aobut the Wii in the first palce, Motion sensing controls sounded like an iffy gamble to me. Obviously I was going to support Nintendo's next console regardless but even I could not have forseen the Wii's popularity. Of course, being a "rebuilding" console (as in salvaging the remains of the N64 and GC), the Wii could not have been expected to come running out of the door guns blazing with how little credit developers were giving it. It's only natural that people who had their hopes so high, would have them shattered. The end of this last generation spoiled us with a game-a-week for the PS2 so when these new consoles were released people undoubtedly must have felt like they were driving with one foot on the brake in waiting for the next worthwhile 360/PS3/Wii game to come out. This no doubt accounts for the large numbers of individuals selling their consoles back the second they get bored of them then buying them later the second a must have title comes out. It's a spoiled generation. The Wii will be like the PS1 not the PS2 in that it will build an empire, not continue one.

First, to nitpick, isn't this just a blog entry, not an "article" (which would at least superficially give it the weight of real news)?

Second, he seems like one of those idiots (yes, idiots) who at the launch of a new gen buys and sells his same console over and over and over just because there's nothing to play on it this week (note he does say he is likely to get it again). This isn't bashing him for pissing on the Wii - I've come across dozens of people who do this and they're not limited to just one system.

I think if I started posting random blogs negative on the PS3, I would get called all kinds of nasty names. I try to stick with articles from major sources, not op-eds from random people.

One of the reasons to get excited is becuase ffor one it's something new. Not the same old(it also allowed Nintendo to compete and at least ensure it a nitch).

The problem is that games are taking longer to develop. Bacvk in the genesis/SNES days a good game could take a year at most. Now, it takes much longer. This could aklso mean longer generations. There may be evcen more games a stime goes on though. Games are still in development and as time goes and everyone gets accustom to the hardware you'll see more games being produced.

I guess in a way, yes, the thread is ok, since it's not insulting or anything. But I wonder, is this guy anyone we'd know or heard of? I really don't know, so please do ignore me if he is. If he isn't, on the other hand, I have to ask then what's the point?

Rocketpig said he sold his Wii, and that is fine by me. I really am glad he decided to share that with us, as he's an active member of this forum - we "know" him that way, respect him, his views, etc. If, on the other hand, someone registred just to make such a post, I'd be more suspicious (like so what, why should we care?), but still think it's fine, as at least it's his own opinion.

But posting that some random guy with a blog that no one knows, is not pleased with one of his purchases, as if it was a newsworthy article... that, I just don't get.

So the big question for me is: who the hell is Cole? At least give us some context...

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Yeah, if it was an ex-forum member, a person of significance, a reviewer or developer then yeah, this would be important, but for the most part it just seems to be some guy of no relevance voicing his opinion. If I found a dude on the street who said he didn't like the PS3 would it be okay for me to post his brief explanation why on here as its own topic?

The only thing I can imagine in terms of the thread purpose from the OP's perspective is to illustrate his opinion of: "I don't own a Wii and never will so to illustrate my skepticism/dislike for it, here is an article from a guy who did own one and agrees with me for the most part." That's all I can figure on a possible point for this topic. Not to bash Legend but I honestly have no clue what else this thread's intended purpose or value could be outside of that or a similar scenario.

Seriously though, I wonder if Sony or MS fans of the forum would respond any differently to a thread like this if it was about respective consoles? Not to cry double standard but I could not imagine seeing a thread like this for the PS3 not getting flamed to hell with a healthy serving of "This forum is Nintendo bias" and "Nintendo fanboys are always bashing the PS3 cause they're jealous" comments.

I've been called troll and worse for posting articles from legitimate sources just because people didn't like it. The truth is that if I were to post something like this certain people would go apesh*t.

I agree that Sports can require some finess to do well. I haven't really bothered learning it myself, and it showed when I got to pro level computers, so I may try to figure it out before I head out to college again. For golf though, I'd much rather play Super Swing Golf than Wii Sports. Selling a console off and then buying it later sounds like an odd idea to me as I would usually expect a used item to go for much lower than retail, but since the Wii still sells well (around retail last I heard if not more) secondhand, I suppose it's understandable, and there's the possibility of a price drop down the road. We'll see, hopefully we'll get a large amount of games like the PS1 did. Though I hope the average quality (subjective) of the games are higher, but that's a discussion for a different thread.

No one should go apeshit about an article of opinion, he had every right to post it and no one should flame him for it.  He was insulting or anything, and I agree the Wii doesn't have enough games.  I have trouble finding stuff to play for mine (I keep playing Zelda, Resident Evil, and Paper Mario over).  I'm just patiently waiting for Metroid Prime 3.

The fact of the matter isn't whether or not he has the right to but rather what is the point of him doing so.
