Forums - Gaming - What system was pushed the farthest graphically? (Lots of pics)

I'v been wondering, what system has been pushed the farthest past its launch capabilities.

To do this comparision, take the systems best looking launch title and compare it to the best overall looking game on that console.

Since I only really know Ninte

ndo Ill only do their systems but if anyone else really knows: Sega, Atari, Sony, Microsoft or any others please feel free to post.

Nintendo Entertainment System

I'm intentioanly leaving the Nintendo DS and Wii out because it can be argued that those systems havent seen their 'prettyiest' game yet.

So feel free to add other consoles, games, and disagree with my pics if their wrong.

lots of screwing up with the picture placement, sorry.

PC

I think the Gamecube was pushed far. Resident Evil 4 was such a quality game (i owned the PS2 version) and Rogue Leader was immense

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I think that Super Mario Bros 3, look better than Kirby...

Its hard to say the Gamecube was pushed hard, Rogue Leader is breathtaking.

For it's generation, SNES, look at the jump.

Seriously, I think it was the NES, at its later stage precisely. If you look at Super Mario Bros. and then Super Mario Bros. 3, it's impressive how they've managed to create so many good looking stages with such a limited color palette.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Epic thread idea

Generally speaking, the PC is the hardware which is always pushed the least ...

There is very little incentive for developers to really optimize their games for particular hardware because PC gamers are very willing to upgrade their systems if they don't obtain decent performance; consider that the minimum requirements for Resident Evil 4 on the PC was a 1.4 GHz Pentium 4 and a graphics card with 128 MB of memory that supported DirectX 9.0c, which would be a Geforce 5 or better, which is far more processing power than the Gamecube had.
