 Wii Sports 27.99
 Wii Play 14.40
 Mario Kart Wii 7.33
 Wii Fit Nintendo 6.93
 Super Mario Galaxy 6.86
 Super Smash Bros Brawl 6.72

Nintendos best selling games seems to be a mix of games that would appeal to the core gamer and mini game collections for the casuals. Don't let that get in the way of the conclusions you are jumping to though.

None of the games you listed appeal to the Harcore audience that much, mostly casual. They sell well to CASUAL players who just want a little something every now and then.

Now the other list given is pretty good. I have never seen majority of those games for Wii or simply have never heard of them at all. Some of those actually look to appeal to the HC audience such as myself but Nintendo doesnt seem to advertise these as they should. If I have heard of half of those games before maybe I would not be so utterly disgusted with the games the Wii currently has to offer.

When some of those great games are actually released maybe my opinion of the Wii can change, until then, I stand my ground.

Well its not Nintendo's job to advertise 3rd party titles. Also I'm pretty sure there are "Hardcore"  gamers who play Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Mario Kart Wii. Super Mario Galaxy IS the highest rated game this generation you know, so unless the people who review the games aren't "hardcore" or the game it self targets that specific demograph along with others.

What a surprise. Gaming Magazines are every day more and more retarded.

Smash Brothers Brawl has a huge tournament scene, and MKWii has one as well. That is the furthest you can get from casual. Your statement was, however, that their best selling games were mini-game collections that had no appeal to the hardcore gamer. Are you trying to say that the best rated game of the generation doesn't appeal to hardcore gamers in the same breath as saying reviewers cater to hardcore gamers?

QTF.  And yes most people that are core Wii players (at least on this site) know about those games.  And half of the top selling games are hardcore titles, I've never seen a casual gamer be actually GOOD at MK Wii, Smash, or have more then 80 stars on SMG.  So to say the things you do is ignorance ^_^ everyone is that way at one time, the best way to solve this problem is to read up on all consoles including one's you dislike =P

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

Maybe nintendo doesn't pay them to advertise their games.

The funny thing about being the most popular gaming magazine is that everyone is going to accuse you of bias, one way or another. For the longest time, I was sure that the entire staff outside of Shane hated the PS3. They trashed it at every opportunity, and in nearly every article, they reminded you that it wasn't selling well (even if it was outselling the 360). And the issues at the end of 2006 has to be the biggest love-fest for Nintendo that I've ever seen in any publication outside of Nintendo Power itself.

EGM isn't biased even if you yourself think so.

This. I don't think it's that EGM hates the wii, it just doesn't like anything that's not Xbox 360 (AKA PS3 and Wii gets the shaft).

It is simply because these magazine's are steered towards hardcore gamers. Hardcore gamers are who buy the magazine. The wii has very few games that appeal to the HC masses hense they don't get much screen time. Rightfully so if you ask me. Nintendo needs to stop with this ridiculous casual market stuff and do something for those who actually like full games to play. The wii's best selling games are titles that are nothing but collages of mini games (Wii Sports, Wii Play,Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort?). It has a very abismal line up of games to come for the rest of it's life span that do not deal with something that is already established (Mario, Zelda, AnimCross, Wii Title collage of mini games). There games tend to not add anything new from one another either.

I don't usually mind when people make fun of the Wii's lineup (they're usually right), but you're just being really stupid. Wii Sports came BUNDLED with the system, of course it sold the most. 100% of people bought Wii Play because of the bundled controller. And Wii Sports Resort isn't even out yet, but you still mentioned it as one of Wii's best selling games? Brawl doesn't appeal to the hardcore audience? Take your head out of your PS3 and see the light.

Those games in that list you saw weren't Nintendo games!! Of course they didn't advertise it! And just because you don't know anything that goes on with the other consoles doesn't mean those games don't exist. You just assumed that the Wii doesn't have any hardcore games, didn't you?

The Wii does have a decent amount of hardcore games, but this magazine doesn't talk about any of those. As for Nintendo coming out with games that are already established, you sure didn't complain when Halo 3, GTA 4, and MGS4 came out, did you?

# of games above 75 on Metacritic (including downloadable):

360: 241     DS: 144

PS3: 152     PSP: 126

Wii: 85

I think the real question is why does the Wii hate EGM?

ooooo......

And when I do I will probably fine more games that I'm interested in the Wii lineup. As for the PS360 screens, that is only for games that the wii version hasn't been shown yet.
