Forums - Microsoft - Do you think the 360 'deserved' to be selling much better?

No. I do appreciate the effort they put in for games - although I don't agree with their approach in some cases. But RROD was the result of rushing to market, plain and simple. MS may be used to patching SW, but HW should be built better than they built the 360 and I'm not willing to accept a high failure rate because MS felt it suited them to get to market first.

Hypothetically if they had no RROD they I would say 360 would have deserved better sales - I know I would have probably bought one if it hadn't been for RROD (well, and how noisy the first batch seemed - I don't know if its quieter now but when I heard one and saw the power brick, then heard about RROD my decision to get one was swiftly reversed).

I think its sold pretty much what it deserves - and to who it appeals to and who is willing to accept the RROD issue.

As I said, patched with a 3 year warranty and a new Xbox with a falcon chip.

I would have to say no. They have spent plenty on getting the games onto the console, but really, it's a souped up Xbox. Halo 3 is Halo with more polygons, and that is all the 360 can do. If they hadn't very quickly discontinued the old Xbox, I'm not sure there's much reason to upgrade from one to another.

The PS3 (over PS2) brought online gaming, built in hard disc, wireless motion sensitive controllers, Blu-Ray and more. The Wii took a completely innovative avenue in turning away from the idea of just adding more power.

The original Xbox had nowhere near the amount of failure rates as this gens Xbox 360.

patched, as in falcon still have over 10%, well 3 years warranty, after those 3 years then what? no more 360.

Is your ps3 2009 lineup weak ? Sony is focusing on profitability and brings you few great games? Deal with it.

@ Reasonable
The Falcon 360 has a special glue over the GPU made by Ati that keeps it to the motherboard so you don`t get rrod anymore. The end. Jasper with the price cut will be a killer deal for anyone who`s interested in a 360.

Few great games? lol what does your precious M$ have lined up for 2009? Oh that's right ZILCH- deal with it. I refuse to give u any more of my time - few great games- Ha

LOL.  Unlike other companies, M$ markets the games that are about to come out.  Bungie has several projects, Peter Jackson has a project, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, Gearbox game, etc.

@ CGI-Quality

Aren`t you the veteran of the Sony Defence Force ? you look familiar...

Anyway, you`re trying to say that copying the succes of the ps2,that sold over 120 million units,is wrong? The ps2 wasn`t dependent on the 3`rd parties? gta, dmc, burnout, resident, etc sau HELLO .

3`rd parties used to make money off the ps2 and now they are making money off the 360. Not seeing any problem with that,YOU seem to have a problem with that. And don`t tell me that Sony didn`t pay 3`rd parties for exclusivity on the ps2 so that their games will not touch the xbox and gamecube.

In my eyes, the 360 is the next ps2. The pricecut in september will convince many that it`s true.

The problem with being the next PS2 is that everybody who wants a PS2 either already has a PS2 or is going to look at the PS2 first...

Are you serious? Do you really think Microsoft doesn't have anything lined up for 2009? They usually don't announce things three years in advance, a la Sony.

This is the same stuff that was said last year. "Microsoft blew its wad! They have nothing left!" Now all the 360 owners are complaining about having too many games to play.

LOL.  You are absolutely right.  I wonder if we will hear this same shit next year.  I guess history does repeat itself.  I thought we were supposed to have learned.
