Nintendo has raised its full-year profit forecast by 26 percent because of higher-than-anticipated sales of the Wii and DS.
The Japanese firm expects Wii sales to rise 42 percent to 26.5 million units during the year ending March 31, and software sales to increase 56 percent to 186 million units, reports Bloomberg.
Nintendo also reversed projections that DS sales will drop, estimating 30.5 million unit sales during the current fiscal year, and a 6.1 percent rise in software sales to 197 million units.
Net income is forecast to jump 59 percent to 410 billion yen ($3.8 billion), operating profit by 23 percent to 650 billion yen, and revenue by 11 percent to 2 trillion yen.
Following the news Nintendo shares gained 8.4 percent to close at 51,800 yen on the Osaka Securities Exchange, their biggest jump in nine months.
According to Bloomberg, Nintendo is now valued at $67 billion, 72 percent more than Sony's market capitalization.
