screw motion controls.

I want cameraImput/holorgams, a fight game where you yourself have to throw knees punches blocks.

 Like the eye-toy?

The eye-toy isn't quite sensitive enough to be 100% effective yet. Given the current boom in digital camera's I wouldn't be surprised if a system like this is possible next gen tho. Who knows? maybe motion capture could overshadow motion sensing they way that motion sensing as overshadowed controllers this gen. Personaly I would like to see all control systems accoadted as I think that each one has it's own unique benifits.

I agree, Saiyar. It also needs to be standard, instead of an add on.

Regardless of what I personally believe will happen, I woudl very much like for traditional game pads to become less important, or even a simple luxury, used for specific games or genres, the way the Eyetoy now is.

Only if it's an option and not the main control type for all games.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

If it becomes the norm in a way that all games can only be played with it, it either has to become better or gaming wouldn't be that much fun to me as it was earlier.
This was also my fear before the wii was released, but thanks to Zelda, I understood that the Wiimote/Nunchuk combination can be used like a traditional controller.

It is important to see that the motion control is not THE new way of controlling, but an alternative way. For some games, it gives you an entirely new and better feeling. For some games, it is a slight improvement, but you could live without it. And for some games, it's completely worthless. It'll probably take some time until developers understand that; it was exactly the same with the DS. But when the novelty of motion controls wears off, there will be great games for the Wii without any motion controls.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

I don't think all games should use 'waggle' controls. But I'd like to see it as an option for all future consoles.

I think motion-control will be standard on all next-generation systems, but it'll be much more refined and blended in better with current control types (except for Nintendo - they'll be onto something better - mind control?). So some cross between the wavebird and wii-mote.
If Nintendo and Microsoft both switch over to 'next' gen in about 5 years from now, meaning Wii-HD and Xbox720 with motion controls, I can't see how Sony can stick to it's 10 year plan for the PS3. They'd get creamed.

Like the Playstation Eye?

If motion sensing becomes the norm, then Nintendo will destroy all their competitors (again?), as they will have the most data about it, and the most experience. They are also the master at creating casual games that appeal to most people.
If their plan succeeds, it will be a terrible blow to the two others, and it's on its way to succeed.

Sony has already done Motorstorm with nice motion controls and many other games use the Sixaxis.  Sony also has the Eye Toy and upcoming Playstation Eye.

Yeah, no one else can do it...

I'd like motion sensing and pointer function to be the standard in next-gen consoles, but an optional controller, like the Classic Controller, should be available. The idea that Xyrax has is actually a very good one, I think.

If systems have something like the wii-motes for standard games and not the two stick contollers like the 360/PS3 many people will leave the gaming systems behind and go to PC's or just stick with the current gen of systems, But if they have something like the sixaxis or something i can turn off and just use the normal buttons i would buy into the next gen. Many people don't feel like comng home and having to wave their arms around just to play games.
