So the first console I ever owned (not including a Game Boy Pocket) was a Nintento 64. To this day I hang onto it and plug it in from time to time to relive Goldeneye or Super Smash Brothers or Perfect Dark. But there has long been games I desired but never saw with my own two eyes. I checked every second hand store (I'm now stuck in old school gaming stores that trade in every system imaginable going back twenty years) for certain titles for the system, leaving my name at every single one instructing them to call me if someone sold the game to them, and telling them I would pay double the usual price if they made sure I was the first customer to be called upon a game's arrival.
The titles (notable ones) that I own are Goldeneye (two copies), Perfect Dark, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, Orcarina of Time, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo Kazooie, Rogue Squadron, Pod Racer and The World is Not Enough.
However, this means of course that I am missing such classics as Zelda: Majora's Mask, Donkey Kong 64, Castlevania, Banjo Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Turok and of course the big one Mario 64.
Two months ago I broke up with my girlfriend of two years. It was very sad, and I miss her very much. But a month ago I met a new girl whom I've been dating ever since. She is pretty, nice, kind and fun, and she is a Wii owner. All of this is a recipe for a girl to hang on too (at least until I figure out how much I like her). But two weeks ago I was at her place when something amazing happened. We were playing Wii and she asked me to grab Resident Evil 4 out of the cupboard. I reached in and grabbed it when something up in the dark, back corner of the cupboard caught my eye.
It was one of those old N64 game holding racks, and it was packed to the rafters with games. I reached in and pulled the entire rack out, gently tipping it upside down on the couch. I almost climaxed right then and there. There before me was every single game I mentioned above in my "missing" list except Banjo Tooie and Turok and then some extra ones were there. I turned to my new girlfriend in amazement and asked her why she hadn't mentioned her collection of N64 games. She said "I don't really play them, most of them belong to my ex, and he left them here months ago."
I didn't care that I had never met him, and that he didn't know his ex was now dating, I called this guy up, got his voicemail, said my name and that he didn't know me but that we had to conduct a business transaction. Turns out he doesn't care about the games, so my girl is letting me borrow them all a few at a time (at least until I convince her to sell them too me) and play them through.
I just bought home Conker, Majora and Donkey Kong three days ago and once I have some assessments out of the way, I'm going to get into the epic game collection I've been trying to accumulate for over a decade.
