Metroid isn't meant to counter anything, so there is no importance on it.

And if Microsoft can epand their base, it would have to be in a way that doesn't directly compete with Nintendo's casual games.

QFT. As it is now the Halo3 crowd isn't exactly what Nintendo is aiming for.

MP3 is definitely not a halo killer. It is a Metroid game. Granted, I think it will go a long way in proving what FPS can be like on the Wii, but, Halo 3 is really not the same type of game. MP3 is more of a FPS plus Zelda type of game. They are really not in the same genre. MP3, as all Metroid games, is all about the solo experience. However, the reason everyone likes Halo is for its multiplayer experience.

Halo 3 will sell amazingly in the 9m area, however, MP3 will probably top out at 5m max, IF it has really tight controls and is advertised really well.

People who like Halo 3 aren't a part of everybody? Nintendo might have been concentrating their PR talk on getting your and my mom to play, but there's still loads of titles coming up for us "hardcore" gamers.

As for Halo vs Metroid, they're totally different genres, doubly so now that no multiplayer is confirmed.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see a great FPS with great online on the Wii though.

Metroid Prime 3 is important for several reasons, the main ones are :

1) A solid "hardcore" , lengthy game designed from the ground up on the Wii.

2) Prove that the Wii can not only accomplish but excel at "First Person Shooter" types of controls to the audience of both the mouse/keyboard as well as the gamepad shooters.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Nintendo really needs a good online multiplayer FPS.  Then, maybe people will finally see MP3 for what it is.

Badly writen of me, but I doubt that the FPS crowd that wants Halo will buy a Wii just because of Metroid. It is two different genres that you pointed out. Metroid is according to me just a game to get the old school N-fans to continue to support the company.

Since people have pointed out, that Halo and Metroid aren't in the same genre, i like to point out that too. :)

Calling Metroid a shooter is the same thing as calling Zelda a swordfighter.

Only 3 kind of people put Metroid and Halo compete with each other, and they are:
1. People who haven't played Metroid.
2. People who haven't played Halo.
3. People who work for the press.

If Corruptions controls get great rewiews, it may shift people who are going to buy first person game to try it instead of Halo.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

MP3 is going to mobilize the Nintendocore (former GC/SNES/N64 purchasers), and not the FPS hardcore, and others that enjoy FPS's simply because the Wii has 2 FPSes that are exclusive - MP3 and RS, whereas the PS3 and X360 have a far bigger, better library of FPSes.

bdbdbd - if MP3 gets good reviews, how is it going to shift the purchase base from a X360 + Halo3 to a Wii + MP3? Most buyers, imo, have made up their mind, and MP3 won't do squat to hinder H3s succuess or failure. However, if H3 bombed (from a reviewer/public preception) MP3 would be there to try to coerce people, but so would the rest of the X360 library, and the PS3's library as well.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Nothing can stop Halo3, besides GTA4 but thats another story. One of the major reasons that the wii is selling so well is the price. All the games on the system are so far behind what the PS3/360 are doing it is insane, not just the graphics but the sound aswell. I know alot of you guys are going to say that graphics don't matter and all that stuff but they do. From what i've seen so far the wii can not even match the graphics of first year GC titles, let alone what the xbox had. Now MP will sell alot because of the great GC game they made, and the lack of similar games on the wii already.

Plus i'm still not really understanding why people are buying the wii, it just blows my mind that people would not just buy a PS2 over the wii, it's half the price and has 1000+ games for it. Can someone please explain this too me.
