Then I actually read all that and thought it was interesting.
But question: really, Microsoft hasn't had a productive partnership where they didn't screw someone over, period? Is MS really that much of a leper?
And if all that's true, it really begs the question, why are so many developers fawning over the 360?

I can't think of a single one from the very begining. MS was born of sin really. They bought DOS from an indy programmer and gave him 50k for it, then they licensed it to IBM (claiming it was theirs) for millions. In fact they bought it from the guy for 50k AFTER they already had the deal for an OS with IBM. That's right, tehy know it was worth millions, didn't tell the guy, and more or less stole his idea.
Microsoft then took DOS and broke their agreement with IBM and licensed it to everyone under the sun so PCs became a commodity machine.
Microsoft told Apple they were going to develop an office suite for them to get a pre release mac. They then coppied the mac OS wholesale and called it windows which they began selling in Asia first. The only reason it stands and windows still exists is Apple hadn't thought to copyright all of their ideas in the mac because they didn't see wholesale stealing coming down the pike (outside MS theres usually a code about that kind of thing among tech people).
Those are just a few of the many episodes. I cannot think of a single partnership with MS that hasn't gone badly for the other guy after a long enough time.
Most of the developers like Valve that fawn over MS are former MS employees (that Gabe Newell guy for instance). Very few Devs are enthralled with Microsoft that did not at one point work for them or get a big hand out from them. People naturally develop a strong affinity for Nintendo and Sony, that affinity tends to only exist when purchased with Microsoft.
Watch pirates of Silicon Valley, GREAT movie on the topic.
