I'll second/third/etc. the comments that you could have sold the thing for what you paid for it. I would have gladly bought your Wii for $180! If anyone else wants to part with a working one for that price, PM me. :D
Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

Because once you factor in eBay fees, Paypal fees, and the general pain the ass that follows, it wasn't worth it.
I sold the Wii for cash in a day. By the time I would have sold it on eBay for a break-even price, I would have spent four hours answering questions, paying fees, shipping the product, etc.
In the end, it would have ended up about the same and this way, I didn't have to waste hours of my time peddling something over the internet.Â

No, I sold it for $340 with two games and an extra controller.

It has great games. I just beat them all and now spend all my time on the 360. It's not that confusing.

Don't you still play just for fun Wario Ware, Wii Sports, Big Brain Academy, Mario Party, Â and any old downloadable game? 5 games? Can't you wait for SSMB, Metroid, My Sims, Madden 08, Fifa 08, Boogie, RE:UC, and there are alot more coming SOON. |
Out of the games you listed, I beat two of them, played two others extensively, and have no interest in anything else.

I'll buy another one down the road but I'm a very impatient gamer; if a system doesn't have a bunch of games I want to play now, it sits and collects dust. Nothing against the Wii, but there's not a lot I want to play on it and the 360 will keep my appetite satiated through the holidays. I figure I'll buy a new Wii sometime early next year, hopefully when they offer new colors. BTW, how much does it rock that I bought a Wii 7 months ago, played the crap out of it for awhile, and then sold it for $70 less than I paid for it? That's essentially renting a console for $10/month. Kick ass. So, let's share a moment of silence for the passing of Rocketpig's Wii. Oh, and please don't flame this f***ing thread. The Wii is a great system, just not enough games for me right now. Thank you for your time. |
That's sort of a weird way to look at it. If you buy another Wii for full price (and face it: you're the only guy out there selling a Wii for a loss, and Nintendo sure isn't about to cut the price), you'll have paid $320. So essentially, you're spending $70 to NOT play the Wii for some time.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I don't have a problem with you selling your Wii, that's fine you don't like it, but the fact you think you're going to buy another one down the road is just silly. When you buy your second one, you will have spent $430 on the hardware alone and that' assuming you kept controllers. I suppose it's cool that someone who really wants a Wii will get one for cheaper, but I just never understand the I don't like it now so I'll sell it and buy it again in a few months mentality. I suppose it could be just because I like money and don't like wasting it.
Oh saling a console is never a smart idea unless you know you'll never play it again. Otherwise it's pointless. Let it collect dust but don't sale it. Cause if you know your going to buy it back then your losing money in the long run.

This sounds like a much better deal than just having sold the system for $180. I would've kept the controller, though, that's something you'll use in a few months.
Guys, also remember that it's likely that MS will respond to Sony's price cut, and Nintendo will follow suit. So he'll probably only spend $200 to get a new Wii.
