How can people claim the SNES Square games to be their golden age when the storylines of the SNES FF games don't even hold a candle to the more developed, polished and complex storylines of Square in the PS1 and 2 era? (Not that it means much consider outside Xenogears Square storylines have always been mediocre, but the SNES narratives were just...childish,)

bullist thing I ever heard concerning Square's games

Yes, because the storylines of those games can really compete with the best of movies and books...

Final Fantasy Tactics can, and would beat a lot of them, but anyways, if you want to put it that way, how many games do you think can compete, apart from Xenogears?

Movies and Books are a passive medium and video games aren't so you have to lower the standards for the story in video games.  Also, how do the story in those games not compete with the best of movies and books

lol at SE game storylines being bad. If it's not made by Kojima or doesn't have tons and tons of philosophy it must be bad according to DTG.

As for KH1 mature...ummm OK. I'll agree then. KH1 had its dark moments though. KH: CoM is the darkest though.

Don't get me wrong, I think the MGS series has a awesome story.  However,  back in the SNES and PS1 era, Squaresoft were considered to be some of the best storytellers in the game industry

Ignore him. Books will always be much better storywise than all of entertainment. As for movies, it helps that the medium has been here for 100 years.

As for Kingdom Hearts, I think that the sequel has really improved the game. The story, the graphics, the music, the characters, the gameplay, etc.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Square: Yes
Enix : Don't give a damn....

4 ≈ One

I think they are slowly coming back around again that there is stiffer competition from others like BN, Nintendo, etc. Crisis Core was very well done and the FF4 remake was absolutely amazing (I actually think it's better than the original as a huge fan of FF4).

During the time of FF X-2 and Dirge of Cerberus, more was needed.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
