The ps3 will continue to close the gap on the xbox360, then surpass it. I expect the gap to narrow by ~2.5 million units before the end of the year.

I say:

Sony will catch up 1.25 mil.

I don't think it will, and if it does, not by much. While PS3 has a really good holiday lineup, I personally believe that the 360s is just simply better and more diverse. Adding the price cut to that, I don't think the PS3 will be able to outsell the 360 by much, if at all, during this holiday.

None of us know. The fanboys will make bold predictions, but we don't know how the market will respond.

Yeah but the 360 will not get a price drop boost in Europe, which is becoming a bigger selling market than the US. Also, saturation is an issue at the moment. With the amount of people buying PS3's, the amount of people buying Wii's, how many of those remaining people are going to buy a 360(without blu-ray) who haven't bought the console for its prior hits?

Also, the PS3 can and probably will drop their price. The new 80gb SKU is (im 98% sure) less costly to produce than the 40gb console was. Sony can gather the small amount they would make on selling PS3's(a few dollars per PS3 at best?) or they could drop price in NA as well and make their money through selling 3rd party software and peripherals.

With LBP being the new face of Sony, I think they are going to want this game to be as big of a hit as possible. This is very difficult to do at  the $399 price point.

I think it'll gain markedly on it, leaving it perhaps 2.5 million or so behind after the holiday season.

but i don't except them totally kill them til gt5 europe and ff13v ff13 are out (japan).
