Forums - Microsoft - Alan Wake ( latest information )

Likely a Day 1 purchase for me. I'm getting an ICO-like feeling from some of those screenshots.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Sorry, but I have no hope for this game. I hope I am proven wrong.

Also, it's bullshit that both the PC version and the 360 version will look the same. If you have the power, you can get great FPS and higher resolutions on the PC. The textures might be the same, but it stops there.

Its expected to look the same

Of course in the PC version you will have more extra graphic options to make it look better but you will need a powerful PC...

Errr you want them to design a new engine for the PC version when the Xbox 360 version is the main platform?

I don't get why they should need to be different! :/

It's not that they need to be different, it's that they just will. I know of no game that looks the same on both platforms.

Oblivion looks better, Gears looks better, Bioshock looks better, Mass Effect looks better, and Alen Wake will look better. Saying they will look the same is silly.

I wonder if there will be PS3 and PC versions of Alan Wake. How would they compare to the X360 version?

I love the style.

Also, people are usually lying when they say PC and console versions look the same. They look the same if you run the PC version on medium settings, but not on high. I mean heck, Bioshock's lead platform was supposedly 360 too but running it on max on PC the difference is pretty large.

I won't be playing on Vista though. I'll be playing on XP. The framerate and performance difference is much more important than a few barely noticeable shaders. Also, PC gamers will probably be playing well over 60 FPS.

PS3 version of BioShock I heard is equal to maxed PC version. PS3 has superior graphics than X360.

You completely made that up.  The developers said they are trying to make it look the same as the 360 version.  source.

Anyone know if its still coming out on the same day for PC? I find that without fail when it comes to 360/PC games the PC version is superior. Check that, FFXI was better on the 360, every game EXCEPT FFXI.

As to saying that you need an uber PC to make games look better then on the 360, I was able to play Mass Effect on my 1500 dollar macbook pro laptop with decent settings that blew the 360 version away. Ditto for every also on 360 game I've played on even mid range PCs (256MB graphics cards, 2.4ghz core 2 duo ect).

If you build your own and don't mind a desktop its even easier. If you build you can get a PC that outperforms the 360 for less then a 360 elite+wireless+3 years of live. A 8800GT (119.99)+3ghz core 2 duo (169.99)+4GB RAM (70.00)+500GB HD (70.00)+intel board (100.00)+ decent case and fan (130.00) is very doable for the 700 dollars that elite+accessories+online play 360 would cost. Also the system mentioned there will be vastly superior to the 360 (not equal) and scaleable. That doesn't include buying windows but who doesn't have a copy of XP lying around somewhere?

I really hope this hits the PC day and date, it looks pretty good.
