Nine months? I thought Nintendo said they weren't going to announce games until a maximum of three months before release, which means there could be some yet-to-be-announced first party games released in time for Christmas.

Could you linky me to that?

Not that I don't believe you, but that'd be the dumbest thing that I've ever heard in my life.

On-topic:

I'd like to see these "core games" being developed on the Wii.  Just hearing about something and not seeing it does not work well for me.

Erm...I'm sure they have announce games before hand more than 3 months. Just look at games like Wii Sports Resort.

That was at E3 which was before they said they weren't going to announce games more than three months in advance.

Umm...I'm pretty sure the strategy was in effect unless you can give me a link.

Afraid I didn't bookmark it. If you think the strategy was in effect before E3 you must've read it too though! If it was in effect before E3 I expect they broke it for Wii Sports Resort because they needed to announce the peripheral.

i hope it does work in nintendos favour with more and more third party support but u still see a lot of hate for nintendo about it. i think they should release some screens for pikmin and disaster so that these doubters can be appeased. for me personnaly i dont mind, Activision, Capcom and Sega have become great wii supporters and we have may great titles on the way

I agree... I mean maybe that's based on Wii sports resort being announced and it's assumed there are none inbetween? But it had to be to let third parties know about the technology ASAP.

Wario Land is a casual game?

Wait, so Brawl and Kart aren't fun anymore and aren't still selling like hotcakes to Wii owners new and old to become the best selling games of the year?

Should I throw out all my awesome games and bitch and moan until they announce something I like?

He's wrong about Nintendo's policy, but the idea behind the policy is (basically) correct ...

A little over a year ago, Nintendo announced that they thought that the rate that information was consumed and became obsolete in the internet age was so fast that they didn't want to release information about games years in advance anymore. So far we have seen this with games being announced, demoed, and released in less than 6 months which is (drastically) different from the 12 to 18 months that it has been in the past.

I don't think it is that bad of a policy, but it does make their upcomming line up look sparse compared to their competition who have had upcomming games for over 3 years.

Iwata (and Miyamoto) have been talking about the late stage announcements atleast since SMG came out. This doesn't mean they wouldn't make any exceptions. Keyword here is "having a strategy", not "we will not under any circumstances".
The idea of the strategy is to take advantage of competitors release dates. Like Nintendo did with Brawl and Mario Kart. Brawl for having nothing big coming for PS360 at the time of release and Mario Kart to counter GTA4. Even more if Nintendo has a number of games nearly ready, which can be finished in couple of months, when they can choose what to release on a short notice. Disaster could have been planned for christmas market, but Motion Plus could have caused a delay.

Ok, so does this mean "announced for release" or "announced being under developent"? Of course Nintendo could give some room for 3rd parties to fit in, by not releasing more games than the ones we know of, in a few months. There's also a possibility that Motion Plus have caused delays.

So Animal Crossing, Wii Music, Wii Sports Resort, Pikmin don't count?
