 I don't think any of us belive that the 360 is going to be the winner this generation. I think we are few that belive that the 360 will hold the market for a long time. Not only that we (at least I) has question their possibilty to make any money on the xbox brand.

What the most of us that still is posting belives is that Wii is going to overtake the 360 WW soon and that the PS3 is selling really really bad.

Note: For making myself clear, I don't hate Sony nor do I hate Microsoft. I just don't belive that the market strategy is going to help them win. Because of that in combination with the "wait for game X" that some sony fans is continue to shout after Y games that have failed to deliver, might make place me in the "hate-sony" camp. I simply can't see that what Sony is doing with the PS3 is helping the bran playstation nor the gamers, of course this is my point of view.

I mean we can turn this thread around and ask why all sony fans always have to scream that my favorit consol  has only kiddie games. That no hardcore gamer plays Nintendo games and that it is only sony that has real games, or that no real games can be made on the Wii because it is to weak after claiming that God of war 2 is the most beutiful game ever. I don't state that the PS3 games is bad I just state that I don't think they will sell consols (because the consol is to expensive). Sony fans state that every game that is on the Wii is crap or not a real game. So it is simply like this I don't hate Sony or PS3 but I dislike those that thinks my view on gaming isn't gaming, because those doesn't respect me so why should I respect them?

But is the price really a reason to be upset of Sony? You may not be able to afford a Mercedes, but there are other people who are. I really like the PS3 for shooting high with its specifications, it's quite a steal here in the Netherlands. All this technology for just 600 Euro.

I think there's no real reason to be truly upset with Sony regarding the PS3's price point. They still sell the PS2 for people who don't care about these extra's, but even the much cheaper PS2 is just a luxury device. Nobody demands you to buy them.

Why must people continue to use poor car references? The PS3 is not a Mercedes. The PS3 is twice the initial price of the PS2. That would be like Honda releasing the new Civic for $40,000 instead of $20,000. It doesn't matter what they would have added to the $40,000 Civic, its still a Civic. The PS3 is video game console. They can throw in all the extra's they like but the bottom line is that its a game console and $600 price tag made the ridiculous $400 price tag for the 360 seem reasonable in comparison. How can the most expensive game console be a steal when its game library is not only inferior to the 360 but its library continues to lose exclusives to the 360. The PS3 is the antithesis of the PS1. Thats why its faltering so badly. Sony like Nintendo before them is telling the gamer what they want instead of giving the gamer what they want.


I think almost every third party game will be mutiplatform, 360 exclusives will go to ps3, and ps3 exclusives will go to 360 all because of the price to make games and the profit they make from it. But as of games made by any sony company, they are staying exclusivs no matter what on the ps3. And I believe that most of the exclusives games coming out on the ps3 wont be lost to the 360 since almost all of them are made by sony.

I don't consider any gaming console to be a primary need. IMO even the Nintendo DS or Gameboy Advance are luxury goods. The PS3 price will come down eventually, maybe at the point they release a cheap slimline version you will feel happy about the initial futureproof PS3 specs and probably a good amount of older PS3 titles could be bought at budget prices and likewise Blu-Ray movies will be available at cheaper prices.


I haven't said that is primary need, but that isn't DVD:s or books either, or do you see books as a luxury item?. Still those medias sell to many more housholds than game consols. Give me one reason for beliving that a 600 USD, 600€ or 6000 SEK consol will change that. I might also say that a BMW M5 might be a luxury item, that doesn't make a Toyota Aygo a luxury item.

This future proof thing is also very funny. Well I belive that you own a Wii so you are not guilty for this but why is it ok to play with PS3 graphics for 10 years meanwhile every die-hard sony fan on this site is saying that in 2009 Wii will drop in sales just because it has gamecube graphics? What is the different 10 years of gamecube graphics untill 2011 or 10 years of PS3 graphics untill 2017?

The truth according to me is that the winning consol is future proof which is the reason why PS2 still is selling.

I dont really hate Sony, I may dislike the company because many of the products I bought from the in the past have failed, AND they are doing many dumb thing right now... but I don't really hate them :P

Its maybe that, in the past, most of their fanboys were pretty much jerks lol (I cant say that they are still jerks, I dont hang out with gamers anymore :P)

On a site dedicated to sales discussion. It would make sense that the console that sells the least would get the least love, regardless of what the console is like.

Actually, they did. It was called the PS2. And believe it or not, Sony got less crap over that than MS has for the RRoD (though they've both received their fair share and for good cause).

I don't hate Sony, I'm just extremely irritated at them. They release a console at twice the price of their last lauch, they don't back it up with games, they take an extremely arrogant attitude with comments like "people will get a second job" or "we'll sell 5 million of these without a single game". In a lot of peoples' eyes, right now they're getting exactly what they deserve. They walked into this generation with a puffed up chest and a cigar in their mouth, boasting how they were the kings of the world. It's refreshing to see a company like that get a swift punch to the gut. They needed it.

And don't even get me started on rootkits, bad MP3 players, exploding batteries, and the other bad press Sony was receiving before the PS3 even released.

But, things seems to be turning around. The games are starting to trickle out, a price drop is happening, and they're working very hard to finish the firmware updates they should have had ready at launch. I've actually started taking more of a positive attitude toward Sony lately, largely due to the words of Phil Harrison. He's the anti-Kuturagi and that's exactly what Sony needs right now. He's down to Earth, humble, and realistic. And most importantly, he cares about making a better system instead of spouting off his mouth constantly.

I hate sony becuase they make high quality equipment, that is some of the most reliable stuff I have ever owned, not to mention it is normally stylish. A little steep on the price tag, but worth it. I hate my PS3 because of all the great games, and the community of mature older gamers, and the lack of 13 year old 'mememehahehehahe' stuff. I also hate my PS3 becuase of great games like SuperStardustHD. It's becuase of games like that I would never reccomend my frends to buy a PS3.

Ok. Seriously. That's why I love sony/PS3.

^^ you alwais have to go one step to far don´t you Kwaad, yes we all hate Sony, for me it´s personal, one night Sony came to my village and burned everything, then Sony raped the horses and rode of on the women, but your kind of hatred even makes me sick.

But seriously if you hate a piece of electronics or an international company they must have eather attacked you personally or you should rethink your priorities in life. Just my opinion, hatred is a very strong word and should only be used against something you really really can´t stand. Not just something you don´t agree with.

Don't forget the PSX!  :)  Seriously, the first run of the original Playstation was the worst piece of gaming hardware I've ever seen.  Stops working after half an hour unless you run it upside-down...
